Breaking in the new Broadstreets this week... pic taken with my iPhone so not the greatest quality.
The brown and walnut really do make a nice contrast and seem to go well with a brown pinstripe and even lighter slacks.
The challenge will be in polishing these guys and keeping the brown off the walnut.
I'm requesting some pics of both the walnut and chocolate daltons in the wild as I'm deciding between the 2. I've always wanted a pair of Chocolates, but I've been hesitant because I already have a pair of dark brown boots. Naturally, the walnut Daltons would be the logical choice for diversity's sake, but the chocolate seems much more versatile (don't think I can wear walnut daltons with dress trousers/ nicer chinos) and classic (who knows how the color walnut will fare in 5 years). Your pics and opinions are greatly appreciated.
I also agree that #8 shell is versatile and allows even more variety. I do like my walnut shoes and boots a lot, however it is more restrictive in what it can be paired with. As you pointed out the dark brown boots and chocolate Daltons would be very similar. Once you have a few other colors covered most certainly go for the chocolates though!
From left to right, Chocolate Brown (Dalton), Brown Burnish (5th Street), Walnut Cordovan (Dalton), Walnut (Dalton).
The chocolate are actually very dark; almost black. I have treated them with the AE dark brown polish and brown Kiwi wax. You may even be able to get them to darken up further if you use darker shoe polish.
The brown 5th Streets are in the pic for perspective and because the SA made a hat trick of the 5th Street doable last Friday... pics of the black shell and burgundy shell 5ths coming when they get here.
Outstanding. Do you have flankers of black and burgundy shell Dalton's on order?
