Allen Edmonds Appreciation Thread - reviews, pictures, sizing, etc... - Page 60

post #886 of 70737

Similar, yes, but the Cambridge is a more formal shoe. The macneil's wide sole, with the reverse welt is too informal for most worsted suits, imo.  Not to mention the bal / blucher distinction.

Plus, the 5 last fits me really well, and it's an excuse to add another pair of shells to the fleet biggrin.gif

AE site updates tonight include a "holiday sale" link. Not sure if this was unintentionally revealed or not...

Shoes listed:

* Amok

* Ashbury

* Berkshire

* San Marco

* Boston

* Walton

* Big Sky

* Hillsborough

* Macneil - picture shows Cordovan but the description says Black (page is still being updated?)

* North Platte

* Steinbok

Some of these are new, such as the Amok, Steinbok, and the North Platte.

The North Platte looks like just the shoe I've been waiting for... an AE winter boot (it even says so in the description!).  Unfortunately, it isn't listing for 3E widths...

The Amok looks really interesting to me. It looks quite a bit sleeker than the Malvern and it has a leather sole. Not sure how I feel about it being unlined though...

The picture of the MacNeil in the sale section looks really interesting - kind of a dark brown/burgundy with a natural leather sole and welt. The description says black (guess they haven't update yet, nor shown prices). Looks like a pretty cool casual show.

Interesting, I agree the Cambridge looks a bit sleeker however the cordovan Cambridge does have an air of informality as well. (I have the burgundy cordovan Cambridge;)

Thanks for the input - I haven't actually seen them in real life or held them in my size (I'm 12D, I held black ones in size 8 or something).  Maybe I'll take them off my list - I guess my brown shell strand will fit in most of the same situations.

Regarding the Macneils on Holiday sale, they are listed as "black" have a natural colored sole edge, and have metal eyelets!  Very cool to my eye, but they certainly are moving more informal with these.

Agree wholeheartedly. I'm a 12D to 12E in most AE shoes and 11.5D in Barrie-lasted boots. I just got my pair of Daltons, and 12D fits like a glove.

They look great. That walnut color is really growing on me. It should look fantastic years down the road as well.

Anyone have any idea when the Moras are coming back to the line (as a non-custom shoe)?

E.g. Park Aves become $243 delivered. Not bad.

Are there exclusions? I tried to place the Verona loafer in my cart, but saw no discount...

Definitely included. Anything that has "special offer available" next to the price is included. You have to go all the way to checkout to see the discount, not just the cart...

Those boots look fantastic. I have found the 1 last true to size. I am a 10.5C/11B and bought a pair of 11B Bayfields (1 last)--they fit perfectly.
