Have never worn wingtips before and have always coveted a pair. Very recently went to Boston (from Toronto) for a little family vacation and purchased the Williams longwings from the Independence Collection in brown burnished calfskin. Leather seems very soft and shoe seems pretty sturdy however still haven't worn them. What do people think of the shoe - I believe they've been recently introduced to their line. I work in a very casual setting and usually wear chinos or jeans and occasionally dress up. Wondering whether people think the shoes are appropriate with dark jeans? I'm new here and appreciate your feedback.

Brown wingtips are probably the most versatile pair of shoes you can own (odd when I consider that I don't have a brown wingtip). You can wear them with jeans, a suit, chinos, cords, just about anything.

Nice purchase BTW. Post an update after you've worn them a few times.

Dope, guess the 35 dollar gift card I got from doin an AE refurb will come in handy. U go to Jeffersonville, I assume wit your name? I stay in Columbus.
Cool - yep, I'm in Cbus too. I stop by the Jeffersonville outlet every chance I get.

Great foray into wingtips. That color and style will go well with jeans, chinos, even some more dressy slacks. I really like the Williams, and the Independence lineup generally, though I don't currently own any. The times I have seen them, I have been impressed with the upper leather, the lining, and the wheeling on the top of the welt.

+1

Don't let the brouging fool you, the perforations actually make the shoes more casual, in conservative paradigms.

Great choice, how about some pics? :)

Does Nordstrom Rack sell seconds, or are they just overstocked firsts?

Firsts. There have been so many of the walnut players at the Rack lately that I wonder if Nordstrom is going to stop selling the shoe.

Interesting...last time I was in The Rack, there was a noticeable lack of AEs. Normally they're scattered in, maybe 1 of every 25-30 shoes in the 10.5-11.5 section (I also check 12 and 13 for some other brands with weird sizing) but I say maybe 5 total last time.

Found an online ad for tomorrow's 90th Anniversary sale.  The ad is a bit blurry, but it gives you an idea of some of the shoes and accessories that will be discounted.

This is part of the mailed insert that you can pick up at AE stores. I was given one about 1.5 weeks ago, it does not detail everything on sale though. So i will have to check today with my SA to see if final details have been revealed yet.

That would be great - thanks! Please post if you get any additional details from your SA.

Williams longwing in brown burnished calf. The details on these are impressive particularly like the brass nameplate on the sole. They're honestly the most comfortable shoes I've ever put on; the lambskin lining is a great touch. I apologize for the quality of the photos - taken with my iPhone.

Nice first post! Can't read it to make sure but it does look like the black shell PA are in the sale. Planning on ordering the burgundy Cambridge tomorrow so will also get a quote for the shell PA also.

Do we think the burgundy cambridge is going to be part of the sale? If so I might have to jump on them too. Dying for a cordovan - dying for a wingtip!

Not that I am aware of. However I can't take it any more and am going to just bite the bullet and get them, the timing happens to be right for me. Those pictures of bucksfan's has driven me over the edge!
