They are comfortable, and can be worn with jeans or a suit. I love them.

Thanks guys, appreciate the input! I'm an 11D in most shoes but on the wide side. The Dalton in 11D gave me plenty of room in the toe box, which is often my problem. AE's narrower lasts don't always work well for me.

I figured the dalton would work well with jeans & khakis and definitely with heavier weight wool flannel trousers and a sport coat/blazer. I had my heart set on the dark brown until I saw the walnut in person. Note, he didn't have the brown in my size anywhere so it wasn't an option anyway. But the walnut really grew on me quickly.

If you guys have some real world images, I'd love to see them.

I'm ready for some 2nds of those Dalton's at 175...please provide a PSA and # to call when this deal is available smile.gif

What last are they on? I'll go try something in a store if its not a last I am used to.
Wish they had speed hooks on the top...but I could even have a leather guy add some if it becomes too much of a pain.

If this doesn't pan out...I might just hop on those Aldos before they stop selling them or raise the prices.

I was wondering if anyone has compaired the Allen Edmons Bayfield boot to the ultimate jumper....

I wear a truebalance 11.5d, and wanting to know sizing comparison to the dalton and bayfield boot made by Allen Edmonds, as I will be purchasing both shortly.

Per my post above, I found the Dalton (and presumably the Bayfield) to run TTS while Barrie lasted Aldens run a half size large. For instance, my foot is an 11D on the brannock and most of my shoes are an 11D. Therefore I take a 10.5D in a Barrie lasted Alden and found that an 11D worked for the AE Dalton.

You could try calling any AE Factory outlet near you for assistance. If you don't have one nearby, feel free to call Edward Wickham, Store Mgr at the Freeport, ME location. He's about 2 hrs north of Boston and I get up that way once a month or so for business. I always try to plan purchases around their regular sales. He wasn't specific about percentages but mentioned that $175 price.

The Kiowas have the most variation of any shoe I've seen. I saw two at the store that looked completely different from each other. Then the first pair I ordered (the one that was sent back) was different from those two, and this one is also different. Some are light, some are dark. The type of distressed look is different. It's quite remarkable, no two pairs really are alike. I like the pair I got the most, wore it to work today with dark jeans and a sweater, and it got the job done. I have Cambridge shell cordovans which I believe are on the same last, and I do think that the Kiowa worked out just fine with rubber sole, although there's no question there's something weird going on; it's rubber with lugs, but still has something of a heel, so the leading edge of the heel feels like a bit of a pivot, one that does not give quite as easily as a leather heel. That said, I was walking outdoors quite a bit on broken gravel and other mixed pavement, mixed grass, and they felt fantastic and looked the same at the end of the day as they did at the beginning.

A fantastic walk-around shoe for the fall and winter, IMO.

Yes, more of those old ankle boots both side zip and double zip and more of the older more elegant looking slip ons like the St Tropez. Bring back the boarhide suede casual shoes too.

AE also has too many of these clunky looking wingtips and captoes. Businessmen in the mid west may wear these but in more sophisticated areas they have pretty much stopped wearing these 30 years ago. The only place you see them is in GQ or some other kid fashion magazine  lol8[1].gif

I have some details about the AE After Thanksgiving sale. Which lasts from Nov. 24 - Nov. 28 (after which, a lesser sale goes on till Christmas Eve). OK, so only select shoes will be available on discount, which will be $100 off:

- Walton
-Boston
-Hillsborough
-San Marco
-Ashbury
-Berkshire
-Belts 15% off
-other accessories will also be on sale, as well as shoe care items.

I have some shoes that might be part of the sale, but i was not able to find info on them. My specs are not specific, but include the MacNeil at $299, i need to confirm if this will indeed be the cordovan version bounce2.gif Unfortunately for me, besides the MacNeil & Boston, i am not too excited about some of the choices. I'll let everyone know as i hear more nod[1].gif

Shell at that price would be great -normal seconds price is 420 and sale seconds price is 350'ish. Burgundy Cambridges are on my list, so hopefully they will be included.

In the mean time, since this is my first post, I'll finish with a pic of my shell macneils.

Curious, if you already have the MacNeils, why would you want the Cambridges in shell as well? They are quite similar.

Similar, yes, but the Cambridge is a more formal shoe. The macneil's wide sole, with the reverse welt is too informal for most worsted suits, imo.  Not to mention the bal / blucher distinction.

Plus, the 5 last fits me really well, and it's an excuse to add another pair of shells to the fleet biggrin.gif
