Also check out anything in bourbon, which has been discontinued like the Flatiron, Strand, Park Avenue, Fifth Avenue, McAllister.

Unfortunately Bourbon will be a no go - already have some Berwick wingtips in that colour 😭 Depends on the price of the discontinued ones I guess 💰💵

I wouldn't be surprised, it's one ugly monster!! In my humble opinion, of course wink.gif

The walnut Rogue is also $227 and yes they are discontinuing the model (not Chili though).  I know some people aren't a fan of either the large hole broguing or the captoe/blucher combo, but I do love my pair.  AE was willing to do a price adjustment on it down from the $277 that I paid, great customer service :)

Yes Andy Middles - that's the only problem I have with the Rogue. I mean a blucher and the cap toe isn't the problem for me, it's just the chunky holes 😬

You could try and grab a pair of bluchers like the McGregor wingtips (great price right now for 1st and 2nd quality) and then a balmoral like the strand/fifth ave/mcallister.  I would probably wouldn't get the balmoral in walnut, maybe go for chili or brown and get the blucher in a different color (walnut, brown, chili, oxblood).  Later on when you are ready for a black shoe, you can go for the park ave or carlyle.

Any Leidens in the wild yet?  Still having a hard time deciding between Walnut and Brown.

Wife is telling me walnut.

Andy - I've looked at the McGregor wingtipcs and also at the McAllister, it's probably gonna be between those two, but don't know which colour to get, definitely not going to be black though ;)

The McGregor is considered less formal, due to the lacing style. These two shoes are built on the same last, but may fit slightly different due to the differences in lacing. You should try on both if possible and see which fits better.

mreams99 - it may be difficult for me to try on AE's at all: I live in the UK and it may well be that the nearest AE stockist is in London 😔 When buying shoes from Europe I tend to go for a 40F or 39G shoe size wink.gif

If the wife says walnut, it should be walnut, regardless of what this forum says.
Happy wife, happy feet.

My God...those are a gorgeous color—all around. The sole color and the calf braiding. That's a shoe that SHOULD exist as a stock option. You put that together well!

Right on. With all of the shoe and clothing advice dispensed on SF, this stands as one of the most useful.

I can tell they where returned by somebody else, not sure if they left them out in the sun.

You sure those are seconds?

I have decided I am going to wear mostly shell going forward for business days. Here is the lineup for the rotation:
Black- Cambridge
Burgundy- MacNeil and Strand
Brown- Strand and Patriot loafers

However, for the occasional day that walnut is needed, the Classic walnut calf Strand will fill that slot. I will also have my CXL Long Branch boots for that need.

Do you think this sounds like a good complete rotation?

Probably a conservative captoe bal, black or #8, for the power suits.
