And any idea why the McGregor seconds are priced so low? Is it because the firsts have dropped to $199?

Fifth Aves, Park Aves, and Strands are all balmoral captoes, so if I were you I would go for the McGregor to switch it up with a more versatile long wing blucher.  In fact I own the black Park, brown Strand, and walnut Rogue, which puts me in a similar situation as you (also looking for oxblood/chili).  Unfortunately the McGregor does not come in my EE size :-( so my only option for the LWB is the MacNeil which is a bit more pricey and fits a bit loose around the heal for me.

The low pricing on the McGregor is most likely due to it being a closeout style with the addition of the new 1943 last Leiden wingtip.

It's a Fenway Friday! A long wing blucher with Othello sole. One of the comfort series shoes that lives up to its name.

lunchtime share of current collection. from front: cognac McTavish, Bourbon Flatiron, walnut 5th ave (2nds), Harrison, Warwick (2nds), Black Hills (2nds), golden brown Long Branch (currently on my feet).

Recently sold my tan Elgins for more than what paid, which was a nice surprise, and helped finance the Flatirons. As I mentioned I'm still on the fence with keeping the Warwick.

Great collection! When did they stop making cognac? I see that color mentioned occasionally in this thread, but it's never on the Allen Edmonds website.

Here's most of what I currently own:

From bottom left: walnut Warwicks, custom color (maroon) Neumoks, walnut Cornwallis (surprisingly dark, closer to bourbon, but I like them), gray Long Branch, 'russet brown' (close to oxblood IMO) Freiburgs

I also have a pair of black Carlyles that I only wear to weddings, which are boxed in the garage. Plus the pair of Daltons I'm on the fence about, from a couple of pages ago.

It depends. They are definitely thinner than the typical AE shoe, so if you wouldn't wear a strand in the winter, I probably wouldn't recommend these for the winter. However, with a good sock, I think you would be fine.

Ultimately, they aren't made for winter, but as long as you aren't trekking through snow I think you would be okay.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Don't see a lot of Fenways out in the wild. I have these too. they may be my only long wing, at that. They are super comfy, but fit slightly large (one of my first purchases, before I dialed in my size). They make for great beaters, though I now find myself reaching for boots that fill a similar role. Next time I pull out the shine box, I may use them to master my burnishing skills.

Although they don't seem to get a lot of love, I'm seriously thinking of picking up a pair of McGregor's in chili during the 2nd sale.  I have a pair in bourbon and find them to be very versatile.  One of the few shoes I feel comforrable wearing with a suit or with jeans (although some here may cringe).

This would be my first chili shoe.  Is there any belts out there that work that are cheaper AE?  I hate having to buy a new belt for only one pair of shoes, but oh well.

Hey all,

First time poster.

Has anyone ever heard of this site before?

http://www.montanorealty.com.au/allen-edmonds-norwich-cordovan-monk-straps-2022-brown-genuine-shell-c-shoes-casual-shoes-cn9301206-p-16613.html

They're listing pretty good prices on AE shoes, but it seems a bit sketchy to me.  Anyone ever ordered from here before?

Here's a pic of my Black Rogues today.  Love the 201 last.

Ugachilds - I never came across that site before. Certainly looks sketchy though, at least the prices do! 200$ for a pair of AE seems a bargain. They seem to have a very big collection of shoes from all sorts of producers. Maybe other members have checked it out?
