Hmmm I didn't see the austerity wingtip Paul talked about on Reddit recently...

I returned home from a business trip in San Francisco to find those Rutledges that I ordered during the flash sale. Fits much like my PAs through the foot with a more Eurostyle toe box.

Great looking shoe. Buttery soft leather (my first Indy shoe) inside and out. One question though, the leather all over the shoes has some "creasing effect" on it, not sure if that's common with the leather used on these shoes as it's got a different feel. I think the defect on these is inconsistent burnishing, which I will fix.

Any of you put a vibram sole on these? What do you think of them as seconds? I will probably keep them regardless as I got them for a great deal.

Sneakers look interesting, don't know if they would find much of a market though.

Whats with the rubbery feel to the sole on the Daltons?

Those look great. I've only just started purchasing Allen Edmonds with the recent sale but I've been coming here daily for a few months. Unfortunately there aren't any stores near to where I live and I've never tried a pair of Daltons on before. Any idea how's these fit in shell compared to other shoes?

I fit into 8.5EE for the strand and 8.5E for the rogue.

I'll buy them if they'll make an EEE. Can NOT find an everyday non-athletic sneaker that fits.

Sneakers dont look that great from the pics, bulky like what you see pre teen kids wear.

What looks great though is the sea island loafer.

But as with pics it can be hard to judge

I just noticed that they added some new colors to the Maritime boat shoes. I think I'll be picking up a pair this summer.

Now that the Patriot is discontinued, what's another good option for that style?  Ideally something sub-400.

All AE shoes I have, have the insole of the shoe on the left. If a shoe has an insole like the one on the right, what does that mean?

If you are getting them at a good price and you like the last, why not? It really depends on how versatile you are trying to get with the black. For my taste, a black blucher with any brogueing is a little to casual for what I would need a black dress shoe for in the first place. But I'm always on the conservative end. Again, not that there isn't a place for it, even in my own line up, but it just wouldn't be the shoe I would choose to be my "go to" for events requiring a dark suit with black shoes. If you really must go versatile with the black shoe, I suppose the clifton in black (with a really nice shine of course) could certainly look nice with a dark suit. I'm curious, how casual are you anticipating to go with this black shoe and how often do you anticipate a need for specifically a black dress shoe?
