Enjoying a little R&R up in Big Bear Lake this weekend. Lugged the Sandman along with me and they've been doing their job keeping my feet warm...along with the breakfast beer!

In case anyone not in the snow wants to a little winter action:

A week's worth of appreciation:

McTavish, Monday and Ellie (title inspired by Medeski, Martin and Wood):

(alternate title of McTavish & Ellie sounded like a bad 80's buddy cop show)

Tuesday: Chili Bleecker Streets and Ellie's "really WTF?" look.

Wednesday: Brown Shell Strands on cheap carpet.

Thursday: Cognac McTavish repeat on early morning frosty grass

Friday was Bourbon Randophs, but I forgot to take a picture.

And this week I realized I was sick enough to have bought enough AEs to have a "rotation."  Thanks, you filthy barn weasels!!!

Eight months ago, I was right there with you.  I just couldn't see myself wearing monks.  Then on a lark, I tried on the Franciscans and fell in love.  Wonderful, sexy shoe and a great fit.  Very versatile as well.  That was the gateway for me:  three months later I picked up a pair of Mora 2.0 in black and absolutely love them.

Granted, though, these are somewhat of a "statement" shoe in my opinion.  Some people may not be comfortable wearing them.  But I'm now a convert.

How does the 65 last compare to the 108? I really want these Mora 2.0s but don't think I'll have time to get into a store and be fitted for it.

Also, shameless plug, I'm selling my Navy Shell Dundees and Walnut Shell Daltons (see links in my sig).
Thanks buddy! Fit on 511 doesn't work for you I guess? It's actually also a tough last for me to fit which is odd because almost everybody likes the fit of the 511.

For the longest time, I couldn't understand the appeal of a LWB. The proportions looked odd to me. Then, I stumbled across a pair of 70s era American Gentleman ones, tried them on, and couldn't believe how wrong my preconceptions were. I'm totally sold on them. Seeing your awesome navy shell pair with such great details, like the eyelets, is torture.

Working to fill a couple small holes in my current rotation, but I'm gonna be all over a higher-quality LWB the moment that happens.

Congrats on putting together such a huge home run on that MTO.

Thank you. Ironically this was a replacement pair that only got made because they messed up my natty shell McNeils 2x and they ran out of natty shell. The combo indeed works, unusual as it may seem (with the red dainite and all).

From one Pinoy to another (although I'm technically a mestizo)...I think you should start ordering 13D and decide they don't fit so I can buy them from you biggrin.gif.
Hahaha arent we all a bit mestizo to a certain degree thanks to our 500 year history of colonization and the pre-colonial arrival of the Chinese. I'm maybe 1/100th mestizo somewhere. Lol.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm pretty sure that if I indeed get myself some 13D, I can guarantee you that I will be putting them up for sale because of fit issues :-)

Anyone who walks his dog in AE dress shoes deserves my respect. Well done, dude.

Those aren't Just chukkas!

Leather looks lovely. Really good shine and they are perfect with the denim.

Hey Guys - Talk to me about monks.  I'm eyeing the price reductions and might finally pull the trigger.   Which style has the lowest profile?  I am typically dressed in slacks/suits and don't often find myself in chinos/khakis so would prefer a style that lends itself to that if they are drastically different.

Franciscans have the lowest profile of the monks, I find the Franciscans and Moras I am able to wear in the same size (333 and 108). However I find the Moras more comfortable.
The Warwick just doesn't look or fit right IMO.

I was never a fan of monks until I tried them. I always considered them effeminate and prissy looking. But then I decided to try them myself and that was all she wrote. Now, the mora are among my most complimented shoes. They instantly give a bit of panache to any ensemble with khakis or jeans, and now I'm constantly scouring for an opportunity to add more monkstraps to my collection. So I guess the Mora ☺ of the story is: don't knock em till you try em.

I'm still at this stage.

Unfortunately, I'm one of these sad chaps who dresses for the adoration of the ladyfolk. Once I started receiving a noticeable uptick in compliments on my shoes when wearing monkstraps, I knew then that apparently there is a place for prissy looking shoes in my wardrobe.

Is anyone familiar with AE coding?  I'm trying to figure out the colour and material of this shoe.  Thanks!

Your comment made me burst out laughing. Thanks!
