I would imagine since woodlore was begun originally by AE, the device they used was like this: http://www.woodlore.com/shoe-trees-inserts/shoe-inserts/shoe-stretcher/

Hi guys, i was thinking about getting a second hand penny loafer from ebay or maybe wait for some retail stores having sales and i normally wear a size 8.5 or 9 US (sneakers). So, i thought AE shoes will probably have some difference in sizing then i printed out the AE shoes fit guide. When i measured my feet it came to a US 10.5 with a width double EE, i was surprised and confused about if i should follow that guide. You might say try in a store, but i live in middle east and there are not a single AE store in my country. I wonder if u guys can help me out and what model of penny loafer do you recommend? Thank you!

AE sent me an email this afternoon saying they don't have the proper leather to make more for me.  Now, this is interesting, as they still list my size, The City, in the Mocha color on their website, so I'm wondering how they have first quality somewhere and can't get me a pair. I think I am on the "picky bastard" list for extra inspections, since I have had a problem with every first I've ever ordered, but if they fail, shouldn't they end up in the shoebank?

Anyway, customer service focused as always, AE says I can have any pair under $385 as replacement, or a refund.

Alas, they don't have anything in a style and color I want in my last that isn't Independence line, so I'm kind of torn. It's like being a kid in a candy store, but all the candy is made on the 65 last and doesn't fit me well.

I want dark brown, as I have two pair in Bob's Chili already and walnut's too light. Dark brown goes with everything I wear (lots of khaki, black, navy, and denim). I'd preferably love a shortwing blucher, prefer bluchers to bals (I wear denim and chino a lot, and have a high instep), and really don't want a black shoe. 201 is my best last, 333 works, 65 is bad for me.

So, I'm left gambling with the 1943 last, and getting a long-wing (Leiden) or a pretty dressy shoe (Cornwalis) to get dark brown. Or I could get Yorktowns in Chili (or I guess Universities from the clearance). Problem with Yorktown is I have a pair of Rutledge already, and do I need a third pair of Chili? It's pretty much down to the 1943s and hoping they fit well. Oh -- I also realize this is a ridiculous conundrum.

Any chance the shoebank has a pair of brown grain Players 2.0 in your size?  They're usually listed at the very bottom, where the shoes with no photos are.  There is speculation as to what last this and the Madison Park (Nordstrom's version of Player 2.0) are on.  Used to be on the 222, unsure what it is now.

Old School 5-eyelet Stanfords from the early 2000's with some flannel today

Just got these Oxblood Strands yesterday. Third pair of AE, but fist to give me a some foot pain. Possibly a fit issue? The pain is on my outer foot from right below my ankle bone to about my first knuckle on my pinky toe. Or is this a break in issue? It is only on my left foot. Everything on the vamp and quarter seem to be rotated towards the inner foot by 1/4" on the left shoe if that matters.

I wear 11.5 in almost all running shoes/sneakers and Sperrys and I'm an 11 D in the AE oxfords that I own (Strand, park ave) and my Gobi chukkas.

Your best bet is to get measured on a brannock and then coming back here with your measurements.  You could probably even contact AE and ask them what lasts/sizing you would need based on your brannock size.

As far as AE loafers, I don't own any, but you should look at the Ascher, Randolph and Patriot.

I think 5 months or 4 months ago i went to check my size on a brannock in the athlete's foot and it was size 8.5. What about their walden loafer and for casual wear is it better to get a burgundy or a medium brown?

Took a quick pic of my brown kenilworth. It's pretty sleek compared to other shoes on the 5 last.

Salt has been removed from right shoe

Beautiful shoes. Hate to hear about the pain. I would contact CS and let them know you were having some pain. If you have a 65 already in this size that doesn't cause pain, I would just ask for another pair. It may be something that works itself out, but I wouldn't chance it. If you haven't had anything on the 65 before, you may try going with half size wider.

And I'm still jealous of anyone who has these.

It's a shame the Thomastown offering wasn't in brown. I would of jumped on that.

Rocking my new brown McClains. I got them for $90 new in box off of eBay. Polished with a few coats of AE merlot polish.

Suede Fullertons. Since day 1, one of my best fitting AEs. I think these are on the 511 last? I've always thought they were chocolate but perhaps they are snuff?

I really like the contrast of the light welt. Added the lighter laces to help casual them up. Yet another casual balmoral conundrum.
