You asked for it. Doing hard core shoe pr0n de-virginizing my brown shell Strands. Maiden voyage today.

When I put the Cronmoks on, I was amazed by the fit and comfort. I'm convinced that someone snuck into my house and crafted these shoes around my feet as I slept.

I feel exactly the same way about my Strands. I do believe they are the most comfortable AE shoe I've worn.  They're even softer and more buttery supple than my Cambridges.  I'm glad I stalked and finally snagged a pair!

I've totally got to up my pants quality to go with these, though. Unfortunately, my waistline went the wrong way these past few weeks from Christmas food and holiday beer (Anchor and Sweetwater seasonals...)

Your wife sounds like a smart woman.

But the Bourbon must not have been selling, or else they wouldn't dump the color.

One reason may be that they seem to have been having trouble with consistency on the burnishing. The bourbon was subject to considerable tiger striping for a while, if memory serves. That said, those posted have a wonderful patina and appeal to my tastes a great deal more than the bourbon I've seen in the store.

Oxblood and Chili are different enough in my opinion (though i personally wish they had stuck with merlot), but the point about not having a truer mid brown is a good one. Perhaps they will introduce something acceptable during the coming year, something without all the heavy burnishing, something more like the lighter mahogany from certain British manufacturers.

In the spirit of this thread, decided to wear my natural shell MacNeils tonight. Excuse the slight blur.

Walnut FAs with grey suit

What exactly is the "reputation" used for on this forum?
I'm thinking 1000 reputation and $3 would buy me the coffee in peppercorn's pictures.

I want a pair of Strands. I currently rotate walnut Mcallisters and brown burnished Fifth Avenues and they both serve me well.

I'm wondering should I go for bourbon or walnut in the Strands. I've been picking up on some issues with the bourbons finish, so was thinking about walnut since I can darken them over time with polish. I already have the walnut covered with my Mcallisters.

Anyone have pics of bourbon that went bad?

Actually it's a merlot Byron, disc style. Got them off eBay then sent for recrafting. J

I hear a lot of people lament the 4 last disappearing. Do you prefer the byron to the 5?
