Look awesome. Is it the lighting or are they actually a bit darker than out of the box? How long did you have them? Did you do anything to them?

Do you guys feel that AE Walnut, when conditioned or polished a bit more towards bourbon actually looks much better than out of the box Walnut? I conditioned mine, which made them a bit darker and I accidentally made some "streaks", where too much conditioner was left on the shoe and I'm actually also using up some AE Bourbon Cream Polish that I have no other use for any longer and I like them better every time.

Mine are more or less the same as they appeared from the box, they're about two months old and I've only used neutral polish thus far IIRC. Can't speak to Bourbon polish use, as for my walnuts in the past I've often used brown/dark brown polish as I wanted to darken them a bit. This pair however I want to leave as is. AE walnut polish can tend to give an orange tone that I'm not crazy about, but it's subtle. Also there's a bit of burnishing on the toe, thus my use of neutral. Hope that helps. J

I know they don't get much love here on the forum but does anyone have the Shannon Drive in olive? What do you wear them with and what do they look like in the wild?

I also found that my walnut Rogues looked better to me when I used chili polish on them. It just moved them towards the chili spectrum a bit and I found this a richer color. The use of the chili polish produced a gradual change after 3-4 polish sessions.

I agree 100%.  I alternate among tan, medium brown and dark brown polish on my walnut strands and they're definitely more beautiful today than when I took them out of the box two years ago - at least to my eye.

Good choice - that's a fine looking long wing.  I really like the shape of that 333 last, too.  Most of my AEs are unsurprisingly on the 65, but I was happy to change it up a bit when I picked up the 333-lasted Flatirons, also in bourbon.  At first I was afraid the toe was going to be a bit too pointy or, even worse, square, but it's actually a really pleasing shape, and I was pleased to find that the chisel is pretty subtle IRL.

Thanks. Did you stick with your 65 last sizing?

I did; I wear a 10B in both lasts. They fit well.
