Allen Edmonds Appreciation Thread - reviews, pictures, sizing, etc... - Page 4564

They're not AE, but this is the community/thread I frequent the most, and I suppose if the MTO program was still up I could make these myself with a Macneill.

Anyone have any input on the Brooks Brothers brown/white spectator longwings?  Obviously a spring/summer shoe.  I love the shoe, just not sure if it's something that would look silly or what.

For reference, I'm early/mid 30's.  I would plan to wear them with light colored pants (tan/cream, maybe light blues) + sport coat, lightweight fabrics, etc.  Live in the midatlantic region, so not deep south, but still an area where this would fly I would think.

Thoughts?

So, the Shaker's in tartan are back as a part of BB's Christmastime tartan push...

But at $498?!  Looks like I'm waiting until the Spring when they're selling off all Christmasy stuff.

Haha you'll soon get yours. Man I wish Carmina had the GMTOs reversed. Natty shell LWBs and Navy shell PTBs the I would have been in probably in both haha.

BB always marks their AEs up by 100$. That's why you always wait for one of those ridiculous sales...

I'm not so sure, the GMTO seems to be languishing at this point. Jaime moved it into the real site, but I think something is a little off with the pricing....

I love two tone shoes....personally I prefer the walnut/Bone to the Walnut/White...nothing stupid looking about them at all..I just picked up a pair of Alden 2 tone long wings brown/dark grain brown...and I HATE Aldens Barrie Wing pattern....but the I could not pass them up...the two tone part I am fine with but getting over the clown Alden wing look will take me longer.( I LOVE Alden...just not their wing pattern on Barrie)

Warning: Spoiler! Another Brand! (Click to show)

I think Brooks has a blue/cream longwing with woven welt type thing that I keep meaning to pick up for summer wearing.

Gentlemen, this is a cross post from BB/Peal & Co thread. I apologize that it is not related to AE, but this is the thread that I frequently visit, and rate your opinions highly.

I am in a market for a shell cordovan PTB, something similar to AE Leeds for business casual wear. Need your advice with the shoe pictured below. Do you think it offers the same versatility as the aforementioned shoe? Doesn't seem as heavy duty, and, perhaps, too refined for everyday type of wear.

Thanks!

Personally I am not a fan of plain toe shell...I do not like the gazillion creases all over. I am a fan of it though in a chukka or a leed(chunky shoe) style that is for casual wear...I just do not see dressing up a plain toe shell shoe at all. I am in the minority on that I think though.

Agreed - I saw there was some chatter earlier about BB not showing up in the Shoebank as well.  Sad to report that the tartan's aren't shaking there either. :hide:

Yeah - I was in for the PTB... was going to be my first shell.  Leeds just look/feel too clunky to me, and was looking forward to a natty or navy shell.  Was disappointed when it went LWB after a 50/50 vote, but with the natty PTB GMTO offered directly it made sense.  Would have preferred the welt/Dainite color combo as in Pep's avatar... but that was a boat I missed.  BTW -  @peppercorn78, the pricing's fixed, but yeah, the LWB's price when it went to the main site... :eh:

Apologies for the threadjack - back to original programming.

Casual day at the office with lots of walking and standing planned. Decided my Black Hills would be perfect for that... And Walnut Wednesday!

Hey, there's nothing wrong at all with a spectator shoe. If you like them and have a good sense of when and how to wear them, go for it.

For all of you with a broad collection, do you vote Olive or Blue? The Olive seems more neutral, the blue seems a little more exciting. I'm up for either, but I don't shy away from something a little out there as long as it's versatile enough. These would be my weekend shoes for jeans, so suits is not a concern.

Any other opinions?

Thanks Kahuna

Blue.  in 12 EEE.  Then decide you don't like them and sell them to me at a loss.

Does the AE Premium Leather Conditioner darken AE calfskin leather shoes? This is my first time buying the product and I just want to make sure.

Shell Dundees today that are definitely in need of some TLC. I got these when shell was on sale a couple of weeks ago and have been putting them through the ringer. Water spots and nicks galore, but it's amazing how quick shoes break in when I don't baby them.

Anyone have any recommendations for trying to smooth out small white bumps? Spoon? Deer bone?
