Definitely get the seconds now then. If the seconds are unacceptable, you may have to pull the trigger on the firsts before they are gone. Honestly, if I were in the market, from what I hear those shoes are worth every penny of the 197.

Thanks.  The problem is I'm not sure if I'm in the market!  i love the look of them, but do I really need them?!

Well, the online purchase was still from a location. Brookfield I believe. I was hoping they would just process the return when they got a minute. It can't be that difficult, can it.

Jos a has their shoe trees for 12.50 in store anyway right now if anybody's interested. I know it's not the greatest deal but it is a decent deal.

I understand that. I don't really need anything at this point, but I could really use a dark brown pair of brogues and something more formal in dark brown. Just don't dally too long. Then you'll be regretting not making the purchase like I do with the hyde, the baton rouge, and several others. And you'll be at the whim of eBay without the opportunity to return if they don't fit well.

You just twisted my arm.  I'll go for the seconds and hope they're ok. (I think...or the firsts for $40 more)

@redmusic1 Have you ever looked at BCFs at all? The ones with any AEs seemed to be loaded with Hyde st.

Mixed feelings about the tan mctavish talk. I think the chances are so-so that they drop after Christmas but high that they drop by late Jan. You guys convinced me to try them in my size - the 2nds I tried were pretty beat up and the color of the right was way lighter than the left. Others I saw were like that too. So I guess they're worth the gamble if you really love the color. So people are finding firsts on these? That's definitely worth the 197 imo.

They both look great.  I think the tan is a little more distinctive, but the cognac is more versatile for me.  Also, photos don't generally do the cognac justice - the more I wear them the more I like them.

Don't have BCF's down here much. The only one I know of within 150 miles closed a while ago. Saw them at the rack online for a while, but at 199 and my size was gone quick. I bought some eBay's and had to flip em cause they didn't fit and I haven't seen any on there in the size I need yet.

I personally like the cognac better myself, but maybe because I already have a tan pair of wingtip beaters.

I've always liked the rich warmth of the Cognac Mctavish better than the more washed out tan color..they both look great though

Speaking of Jos shoetrees. What size would I need for an 8e 65 last? Small?

Just an honest question. Do you think AE shell cordovan in their standard offerings at full price is competitively priced?

I have the cognac McTavish that I wear a ton, if I was to get the Tan, should it be in a different style?
