Imo if they have been worn enough that they need to be resoled - you don't want to buy them. They'll likely never fit you right

I agree. Generally, shell shoes tend to mold very closely to one's foot, especially the creasing. I have only ever bought a few pairs of shell shoes that were heavily worn, and they have never fit me quite right, even when the size is correct.

If you were looking at a very old or rare model, or a pair that was only worn 5-6 times, maybe 10 times, I would give it a chance, but a shell Strand is very easy to buy directly from AE.

My blue Neumoks were looking a bit parched, so I gave them a coat of VSC before wearing them out today.

I hope everyone's weekend is going well!

Dale, your tassel loafers are single-handedly (footedly?) responsible for making me want a pair. Very modern interpretations of the style.

Christmas came early today!

For the life of me, I cannot tell why they are seconds.

A big shout out to Lou at the Riverhead NY store. He wasn't sure they had them in the store, even though the shoe bank website said they were. He dug around and said he found them at the bottom of a stack. They are great looking, just like he said they were.

Stopped by Burlington Coat Factory in McAllen TX.

Found a new pair of AE - "The Adams" - dark burnished chili calf - from the Independence Collection.  This makes my 8th pair of AE, but my first form IC and first in burnished chili.

A steal, I think for $99.  Not marked as seconds.  Will post photos later!

As this is my first pair of burnished chili - what would you experts recommend so as not to remove too much of the burnishing?  I can hit them with some Saphir Renovateur, but I think that may strip some of the burnishing.  Would you recommend just some AE Conditioner?  I also have some VSC.

Those are great!!  Cant tell, are they burgundy or brown?  I have 2 burgundy shell AE and a black AE shell, but am wishing for a nice brown shell to add to the collection.

Thanks! Before being introduced to AE i never thought I'd wear tassel loafers. Now they are my favorite (chukkas being the other one).

I never wore chukkas before until the Dundee and they are becoming one of my favorites

Has a consensus emerged about the leather in the Sauk? The website just says "thick, durable." Any chance it is Dublin? The ones posted by @sruchris look like they might be.

So I custom ordered these from the store and just receive them online. The leather is already scuffed. No more so then if I would have worn them to two three times. But I am wondering should I take them back. What do you guys think?

Hello SF! Quick question for all the AE experts. What's the difference between AE Leather Lotion and AE Leather Conditioner? Which would be a better option to ensure the leather maintains the right level of moisture to prevent cracking? Or are they both good products for that? I actually have the AE Leather Lotion.

Any confirmation on what kind of leather the "russett Brown" is on the Sauk Drive boots?

That question is answered on the AE website.
Look at the "questions and answers" under the description of this boot.
