I think it would look TONS better if that was done to match. The stitching reminds me of every time I pass by a mall brand shoe store

Not trying to offend anyone however

That really is a matter of taste....Personally I would not want any of my Vibergs with tonal stitchdown and those certainly are not cheap...in fact wearing a pair today!

And no offense taken.... we all like what we like...

Any advice on how to minimize this gash? I caught the bottom of a door while walking and talking this morning. My poor kudu baby!

There are currently three long wings with lleather soles, correct? I think they are moving the McGreggor to strictly dainite. They just announced that two months ago, and those aren't on clearance. It's the same thing they did with the other more casual Lexington on the 65. It invites long time wearers to get something a little different and gives a tad more versatility to a more casual offering. It kinda makes sense to me. I would rather have the dainite on a more casual dress shoe, but I like the price of the clearance leather sole too much to bite immediately.

I agree with Kahuna75 - the white stitching is a lot of what drew me to the light brown Freiburg. I wasn't a huge fan of the Russet due to the dark sole, dark welt, and dark stitching. Just a personal preference for this type of boot.

Wore mine today, too.  I distinctly remember them being the most comfortable of all the shoes I tried on the day I first stepped foot into an AE store a year and a half ago.

Speaking of McT's, my Cognac brown pair from the shoe bank showed up earlier in the week.  Just now getting around to snapping a pic for you enablers. @M635Guy included. Sock thickness definitely makes a difference with these. I am shocked at how much less room I have across the top of my foot with these vs. the Black Hills. Bal vs. blucher fit is much more pronounced with this thicker rough leather. Funny thing is, they are also lighter than my Black Hills, which apparently have darkened quite a bit.  I expect the McT's will eventually darken nicely as well. I'm glad I went with these instead of the lighter tan.  Gonna be a nice fall shoe.

I've been labeled...

It never occurred to me how much variation exists in the shape of feet.  For me, my 11.5D McT's are super-comfortable.

This site has a description and does not mention specifically CXL:  http://reviews.allenedmonds.com/7512-en_us/SF50438/mckinley-penny-loafers-reviews/reviews.htm

However, this does:

Thanks, guys. I will put a saved search on ebay to see if my size comes up. The BCF ones were too big.

I would rub some leather lotion like Bick 4 in it then brush really well...when that all dries add some dark brown shoe creme if it is needed...my guess is after the leather lotion and brushing it will be ok for you

Indeed, although it occurred to me the comparison to my well-worn Black Hills isn't really a fair one.  The double oak sole on the McT's felt a bit stiffer, but I imagine as my foot wears into the cork bed, these'll be just as comfy.  I was standing most of the morning and can already feel gravity working its magic.

Edit: Also wanted to mention Jeff at the Charleston store was awesome in getting these for me. From dealing with me returning brown grain 2.0 Dundees that I just wasn't comfortable in, to securing this pair for me when their store's only pair was on hold for someone else, Jeff was fantastic and friendly with his service!

Is that the standard/natural? They look much richer/darker than the photo on site.
