I'm planning on buying a pair of monkstrap style AE shoes. As my feet have high instep, which one has a roomier vamp -- Warwick or Mora 2.0?

Thanks

I realize it's difficult to base an opinion on the Tobywing pictures alone, but how would you compare the San Marco to the Tobywing?

I'm looking at a pair of San Marcos on eBay, but might decide to go with the Tobywings instead.

Pleasantly surprised by the Black Friday models. The Sauk Drive and Boone look like winners to me. If I weren't on a shoe buying hiatus, I'd pick up a pair of Sauk Drives. Great leather (assuming it's Dublin) and the 201 fits me like a custom made last.

I just ordered some Freiburg boots in light brown.

I will post some photos and info when I get them.

Lol...interesting that someone else other than myself has secretly been concerned about this..I already hate the reputation that AE has for being unsleek, even with the 65 last...and now it seems they are ramping up production of attractive styles on even less sleek lasts... Ive been irked by this trend as well.

I don't know for sure as I have never worn the Warwick... But based on my experience with the Mora, I'd say the Warick is probably roomier than the Mora. It's hard for me to imagine that the Warwick could be less roomy than the 8 lasted Mora, as it's supposed to be made on a wider last with a more tapered waste than the 8 last.

I have a really high instep also - I never tried the Warwick but would agree with harlequin based on the difference between the 201 & 108 alone.

Not sure about what others you have looked at, but the Mora was way too roomy on me, plus it was passable but definitely not optimal in terms of instep.  The Franciscan fit way better, but the Norwich stole the show in terms of a good fit.

I'm considering the Freiburg as well. Not sure which color I'd want though. I have a Dundee 2 in brown burnished and a Gobi in tan saddle.

Do you know how the 201 last would fit compared to the 511?

I wear 9.5D in all my AE's except the Odenwald (on the new B34 last). I tried on the Rogue which is on the 201 last. With the Rogue the 9.5D was slightly big and the 9D was OK with thin dress socks. I went with the 9.5D in the Freiburg as I figured I would probably be wearing thicker socks with these boots - more casual with jeans, etc.

I have the Dundee 2.0 and went with the 9.5D as the 9D was a tad tight.

No, my experience has been that the Warwick is LESS roomy than the Mora. Funny, my Rogues are about the same roominess wise as the Mora, but the Warwick, made on the same last as the Rogue, requires me to go to an E width, but a D in the Rogue is fine

It actually tore up, the hot spoon kinda closed it back together to what it looks now in the picture. I should have taken a before and after haha but it hurt looking at the before. I do hope that over time it will even out a bit more.

Haha I was actually thinking I wouldn't mind getting the gash on my foot instead. Lol. But seriously though you are absolutely correct. Worse things could happen indeed.

Got my deer bone from Hanger Project, though I think Leffot has them in stock sometimes as well.

Hmm, so you'd say the 201 is a hair bigger than the 511? I might have a chance then. My Dundee 2s are 13B and I wouldn't want them any more snug, and there's no 14A Freiburg.

Which color would go better with khakis?

Love the hearty Vibram lugged sole on this soft leather!

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Glad you got them! They look great. Can't remember if I told you this or not, but those *should* be on the 511 last. That's what got confirmed at least. Either way, enjoy!

Yeah that looked too rounded to be the B34 but I thought it was the angle -

Thanks @Garland, no, I requested 511 but you never confirmed you could make them in 511 last.  These Normadys have more volume than any other 511 lasted item I have, would likely choose a 15c if I were in a  store trying them on.  (And I have nothing b34 lasted, so assumed the expansive volume was predictable in a b34)

Unlined Kudu is incredibly soft/pliable so cranking laces tight works well, as does usual lacing to the top instead of their suggested ankle wrap.  I'll use an orthotic from a 511g boot to fill volume and they will be fine.

Most of the new items are not available in 15 despite the 201 last offering 15 on other models.   I have a hard time rationalizing buying anything new anyway, but hate seeing the options limited this way.
