It caught under a bathroom door in the mall. The door had a loose plate of steel that ran through the camp of my shoe. Ouch!

That does look nasty, but I think over time it will fade. I don't see the leather actually torn there.

Couple things -

1. I was kind of bummed not to get any opinions on my post about the Shelton - maybe if anyone had a minute, I'd appreciate it.  Getting both styles is just not an option right now.

2. In the sizes that remain, Brooks Brothers is selling the Aberdeen for 179 minus any more promotions you may have.  That's a steal for one of the best shoes ever made in my opinion.  If they still have your size, I wouldn't hesitate.

3. People are probably aware by now, but thought I would mention they started the black Friday sale (1sts & 2nds).  Some weird choices, mainly limited runs only for the black Friday period.  Some notables I thought were - The City & Thomastown if you like the 201 last, the Rialto is now on clearance and is a steal if you can actually fit it, and the "Buckstrand" looks like it might be a winner.

Thanks for the heads up!

I know I will probably catch heat for this opinion, but why does AE feel the need to keep trying to force another "casual balmoral" oxymoronic abomination down our throats?  There are so many other ways they could improve their product line, yet time after time it's "Hey, we took the Strand and tweaked it again!  Isn't that cool??"

1. I know nothing about the Shelton, so unfortunately, I'm of no assistance in that regard.

2. No comment

3. Thanks for the heads up. There seem to be some interesting models up that I've never even seen before. How have they been hiding the Sauk Drive from me?

They usually introduce a couple "black friday models" each year, like the Carson City boot a few years ago (that's the only one whose name I can recall).  Think of them as webgems, more or less.

Also, I see the Strand briefcase is back up, and on sale for $387!  I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat if I didn't already own a lovely Saddleback bag.

Could've done without the sarcasm, but whatever - hope you get a good score.  Knowing how much you like the kennilworth I figured some of these would appeal to you.

Yeah, I admit I totally agree with you but didn't want to rip on the whole Neumok, Strandmok, Buckstrand, concept - hey they at least changed the sole.

The Sauk Dr appears to be a black Friday only model.  Looks good to me too.  Just FYI - I made up my Dalton with a Vibram sole so it sort of resembles the Sauk Dr.  With the thickness of the commando sole, it limits their use for me.  For really bad weather they're great, but when I just wear them normally people have made comments that they look like combat boots almost.

Thanks for trying (regarding #1) - appreciate it anyway.

What do you guys think about the rugged shearling gloves?  I have a pair of nice cashmere lined Polo Ralph Lauren ones, but these would be a bit warmer/heftier.  $120 down from $160:

Anyone know exactly what color the Sauk Drive's "Russet Brown" is? Is it similar to the Cognac Dublin? Were any prior shoes available in this color?

Per @watchidiot classified it looks almost exactly the same as russet brown dublin that he had mto'd.

What is the process of applying HDLP to my Long Branch boots?

It looks, to me, like a rough leather version of Oxblood. Thats pretty nice if you ask me.
