Always call shoebank.

Items can get sold out from under you while you wait for email responses.

-And yes, response time during sales is slower than molasses...

Do you guys polish the bottom of your shoes? IF so, neutral polish?

No - I would slip and fall on just about any surface.

Walnut Daltons today for my PC Pic. (Didn't notice the scratch on the inside left toe until just now. Time for some more polishing!)

I don't..will put a coat of leather honey on once a year...not sure if it really helps but my brain thinks it does.

Fellow members i could use some input from the community...

Background:

I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase a pair of First Ave dress boots recently. After receiving the boots and walking around in them for a little while i was able to determine they were too big (originally i purchased a 9D). Luckily i was able to get the SA at Allen Edmonds to order me both an 8.5D and 8.5E to try on in store. After walking around the store for a good 20 min. in both pairs i finally settled on the 8.5D because it fit snug but not overly tight. Since i have a narrow, flat foot it was not feasible to go with an 8.5E because they were simply too wide.

Question:

Does anyone have experience with the First Ave boot as to how the fit develops over time? I've only worn them about three times and they are still breaking in so i am curious as to whether or not i will gain a little extra width up at the front. Right now its a little too snug for my liking but not painful; my toes are not getting squished up at the front.

Thanks for the help in advance.

So went to the Allen Edmonds home page this morning. The main image was a guy on a motorcycle wearing a pair of brown Sturgis with brown soles. I then looked the boot up on the site. The boot you can buy has a brown welt and black sole. Sigh.... I do love Allen Edmonds but they are making it difficult. Yesterday I was trying on the Mora to see if I wanted to special order a pair. The brand new pair, never tried on, had some sort of substance sprayed  on it that made the leather  spiderweb. Many of the belts had it also. WTH is going on? It took  me about 10 to 15 minutes to find a belt that didn't have this weird "cracking" veneer leather thing going on. Why would I buy a belt that already looks like it's  ten years old? Why would you advertise on your home page a boot you don't make and don't  sell? And if you ONLY make cordovan shoes as they are ordered can't I customize them?

Thank you for letting me rant. Oh...AND their dress shirts need one more button on the bottom. I have five of them 2 Large and 3 XL and they all need one more button to make them "right" torso wise for me.

LOL...I believe that is a black sole and whoever did the photoshop work applied a brown cast to the whole image of the boot...LOL too funny - I like the brown...I am not even sure that this boot is actually in a live pic with the motorcycle...the edging of the boot looks like a magic want cut and paste job

I believe you are correct. The brown looks much more rich and "suede-y" than the boot on the site. ALWAYS use your own product when selling your own product!

No joke. That's my world too. At least AE offers most shoes in EEE. Most other makers won't, or require an expensive up charge.

Calf and suede will definitely stretch a bit with wear. Not a full width but a tad.

I'd love to get your take on the brown crackled McT or the Bellerive :)
