I compared the bartlett and strand in store this past weekend and the cap isn't any further back on the bartlett. The shape of the toes is slightly different though (a bit stubbier and rounder on the stand versus a bit more elongated and pointy on the bartlett).

Thanks!  If you don't own a brown shell already, I'd say give the Strand or Dundee a go, they look great in brown shell & look even better after some wear IMO (not quite my pair, but from others on this thread) :)

Thanks for the info. Would it be too much trouble to post a pic? I'm interested in how they aged. Thanks either way!

Appreciate the input. Was also interested in the Neumok, but not sure if I like how dark the toe is on the Acorn Hillfire color compared to the rest of the body.

Brown grain First Aves arrived. They look great! Leather is much softer than my calf versions but the dainite sole is going to take some work breaking in. Hoping they are dressy enough to be paired with sport coat and slacks during foul weather. I'm also messing around with other lace options to dress them down. I'll post more pics when I get them shined up.

Thank you for this tidbit, as I was unfamiliar with Bill's Khakis and thrilled to see 36 length across their product line.

Based on yesterday's order, today I received an email offering 'vintage' Twills for same price / $85.

Yes. Apparently they are cycling through the line because as I was going back through my emails last night I saw that canvas was on sale for that price several days ago.

My problem with sierra is sizing as well. I've never been able to catch anything but pink or bright red nonsense in my size of 33.

I am almost relieved to find that while Sierra has (as always) great deals, they do not have Bills in 36x36 size.  Have ordered 8 pairs direct from Bills website.

I had to darken the picture to show the actual color because cell pics didnt' show it. At first when I bought them they sat around for a few months because I really didn't like the color. So I got some polish and made them darker.

Now I really enjoy them. Plus they are extremely comfortable.

Nice. Looks like it will be a good foul weather boot.

I  do love my Allen Edmonds but whoever is in charge of their bags should be fired. The tacky and God awful GIANT "Allen Edmonds" on the shoulder strap screams of desperation and a taste level recently set free from whatever trailer park it escaped from. Considering my long hard road from a similar trailer park I am sensitive to that but not when it comes to giving said person the power to tacky up a brand I love. Also most of their bags don't have a shoe compartment. Which is ridiculous. They are building their brand on the reputation of their shoes. Use the shoe as the starting point for what you design. It isn't rocket science. That bison purse/backpack they put out was well designed but was smaller than my first grade backpack! I agree and understand that AE should grow beyond just shoes and I buy their clothes, socks, and shoes because I refuse to buy Chinese made clothing but if they wish to become the American luxury brand they need to pay better attention to design and use (form and function.) Some of this is obviously said in jest but in comedy lies the truth.

@aero25 for me that would be a no brainer. Get the r. St before it's gone. The syrandmok was one of the few styles where I tried all 3 colors and passed on all. The acorn nrumok isn't going anywhere, it's good but no need to hurry

I work in a job where I only have to "dress up" maybe a couple times a year. So I wear a lot of premium American made denim and cycle through ALL my Allen Edmonds! Even if it isn't "right" I like my Shell Cordovan so I wear them to work. I have about thirty pair of AE's that I cycle through wearing a different pair each day. Wear what you feel comfortable in and nobody will notice. I can't  tell you the number of times I've had people rave about my shoes because I'm in denim and a t-shirt. Buy the shoe, wear the shoe!

Rush Street. I have it and it's a gorgeous shoe. Even with shoe trees it wrinkles a bit more than I would like but the Chromexcel leather and I have a long love/hate relationship. In spite of that I still love the shoe and wear it frequently. It is well designed and, as usual, very well made.

30 pairs? My goodness. I have all together 4 pairs right now and I barely get to wear them. Then again I work from home sometimes and right now I'm in sweats.

I'm trying to build my casual shoe collection up.
