@peppercorn78 The thought crosses my mind as well since I don't wear my brown shell strands enough, but I'm going to try to wear more wool trousers at work to get them into the rotation more often.  One of AE's best makeups IMO!

I love my strands.  I just ordered them in black shell to complete the set.

New Holiday catalogue in today with 75 off of any regular priced bag. Not much in the shoe department accept that I hadn't really noticed the Bellevue chukka's and this is at least the third catalogue in a row that has ignored the existence of the fifth street boot. In light of my earlier post, I'm still thinking these are going to be dropped after this Christmas.

Hey, thanks!  On the strength of this I got the last pair of tan Shelton 9Ds in existence, it seems.

Does anyone have a picture of the First Aves in black grain in real life?

Definitely. Alden's Color #8 is darker, but AE's burgundy shell does not look particularly light until it is placed next to the Alden shoe.

I wouldn't be able to pick a favorite. When I first removed my PCTs from the box, they looked so dark that I thought they had somehow sent me a black version despite no such boot existing. It wasn't until I brought them into the sunlight that I saw the signature Alden eggplant color for the first time. AE's burgundy does not require as much light to show its gorgeous hue, and Alden's Color #8 can sometimes look more purple by comparison:

Agreed. John, Tom and Paul in Destin are great guys and are awesome to work with - I cannot say enough great things about them.

Agreed 100%. I never wear mine and try and create reasons to do so, but I do keep them at the front of the closet so I can look at them whenever I go in for something.

I hope everyone's Wednesday is going well!

Posted this in the shoe care thread but no response yet. How do you guys suggest I get rid of this scuff mark? I'm probably missing something in my polishing steps

The only bad I see is the fact I just purchased Burgundy Shell Dundees as a result of your post...lol

Looks like the new independence line shoes are all ~$300. Makes the Hopkinson and Bartlett mighty tempting.

A pair of brown shell Strands popped up in my size on Shoebank today.....I think it is probably the ones that I ordered first quality earlier this year but didn't pass quality control, so they got classified as seconds. I have my first quality pair, but I bought the seconds today as well. It will be interesting to see how they look!

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I've had good luck getting those kinds of scratches/scuffs out by lightly wetting the pad of my thumb and rubbing it into the marred area. This usually either subdues the blemish or eradicates it altogether after some vigorous brushing.

If the marks persist, I will move to AE's appropriately colored polish, which will usually cover whatever is remaining so that it cannot be seen until the next round of polishing.

Those scratches do not look very deep, and will likely be subdued or go away altogether with time as the calf patinas.
