Just plain old burgundy cordovan leeds. It's been a style that I've wanted since before I worked at AE, but there always just seemed to be something else that I "needed" more. I had to make sure I got them before I left.

Haven't worn these in a while. Chili Franciscans today.

The 65 last is far from my favorite - with a bal, I can pretty much do a 7D, 7.5C or 8B with varying amounts of break in. They fit snug across the top but comfortable. With bluchers, I have generally gone with 7D and the fit is "correct", but definitely roomy, I must use medium weight socks and once broken in I always get a tiny bit of slipping in the heel, just enough to make it annoying. I loved both the black hills & Aberdeen, but I wear the Aberdeen constantly and the black hills mainly collects dust because of this.

Anyway, where would people suggest starting with the rogue? 7D, 7B, or 6.5D? 6.5 would be a full size down from tts. I was also looking at the overlord but for a bal I thought 7D was a safe bet. Thanks so much -

The 201 last is tricky for me. I am pretty much an 8.5D in the 65, 333, and 511. When I tried on a rogue, it felt massive in 8.5D. I felt like there was a great bit of volume. However, in my first ave boots, also 201, 8.5D fits well.

One of my favorite shoes.

I'm sure that's not it. He's personal friends with "Andy."

Though I've only worn the First Ave a few times, they fit well enough (in my 65 last size) that I ordered the brown grain.

Agree that the Rogue has way more volume than the First Ave. Not sure on length, as its been a while for the rogue, but if I had to guess I'd say rogue is slightly longer.

All of the "pretty shoes" get their day in the sun, so it was time to break out the Mapleton. Saddle leather; no polish and really comfortable.

They only have burgundy, brown, and black. I would have bought more than one pair if they had offered whiskey, walnut, or natural. I think a natural Long Branch would have kicked ass!

Burgundy or brown cordovan Leeds are a great buy.I have no idea why they even make them in black. They just look like prison guard shoes to me. But the other colors they really pop! Great buy.

Sigh,  a little upset that once again Los Angeles/OC gets bypassed. AE is having a trunk show to launch their new shearling coats and they aren't coming here. I  know LA is warm but many of us who can afford AE shoes happen to travel frequently for work. I have spent more than one January in Paris and that is cold as eff!

What's funny is New Orleans is getting a Sherling trunk show. The coldest on avg it gets is about 43F. I know the store has been lobbying for awhile to get a trunk show and finally got one. Also, I believe the store has had the highest non shoe/boot sales over the last two years. I don't think the ceo is coming, but the marketing director is. I just wish it was a cordovan show.

You'd think they would do both at the same time. If a guy is going to pay 1700 for a coat he probably has the scratch to pay another 500 to 700 for some shoes. Not the smartest thing AE has done. When people are in the mood to  spend money give them something to buy.

I'm looking for recommendations for polish color (neutral vs. walnut) for my Walnut Strands.  Also, has anyone used wax vs. polish?
