PSA: Don't accidentally get AE cordovan cream on anything you don't want it on. Also, keep open tins away from unstable surfaces, kids, pets, ect. that might knock it on the carpet... That stuff DOES NOT come out...

Not like anyone here has asked you to buy it for them.

So you reply right below a new style saying how much you liked it and respect it that AE is pushing the envelope with new styles. But you don't like the shoe, we're supposed to believe. Yeah, that makes sense. Next time AE comes out with another ridiculous fugly shoe, I'll post how much I love the new styles AE is coming out with but that I really dislike the shoe that made me post that. There's no way my reading comprehension for your convoluted logic can be as bad as your taste level.

It's not even a new style. It's a strand with a tiny bit of shark thrown in. It's like a bad MTO

NOW. A strand that was ALL shark except for the toecap and heel would have been much cooler.

Thanks. Can you remember who? I want these bad.

Check a few pages back...they post often...I am on mobile and can not see signatures....you should find it easy...as long as your not on mobile. Maybe in the AE mto thread too

Check my sig for old catalogs!

Exactly. Their new styles have been missed opportunity after missed opportunity. They need not look further than the MTO thread here for some really great ideas. I've not heard anyone on that thread clamoring for a teal colored one off eyelet smile.gif

I dont know if AE is planning on selling a bunch of those. Seems to be more effective as a marketing ploy than anything. Kind of a, "Hey look! We collaborated with someone famous thats relatable to people outside our normal market demographic!"

Then again, AE put the god awful Morgan and plenty of other ugly shoes into mass production, so who knows.

A question for the experts on lasts and such (especially those of you who own/have tried on the Shaker Heights):

How does the overall fit (and in particular, length/width) compare between the 73 last (Shaker Heights) and the 511 (Dalton)?  I actually own both boots (several in each), but in different sizes/widths.  I have a few Shaker Heights in 9.5D, and a few Daltons in 9EEE.  Both fit me fine (the 9EEE is slightly better, and a 9E might be perfect, but it's not a huge difference for my foot).

There is a Dalton in the shoebank in 9.5D that I am thinking of buying.  I know, I know, fit should take precedence; however, 9.5D Shaker Heights fit me just fine, and I'm wondering if I'd be able to make do with a 9.5D in the Dalton.  If the Dalton is longer than the SH, probably not.  Is the 511/Dalton known for being particularly narrow?  Wide?  Middle of the road?  It's hard for me to put it in perspective since I've only ever worn extra wide Daltons (which are, by definition, wide).

Thanks for helping me answer a silly question!

I have two Shaker Heights in 13D and one in 13E as I wear thicker socks with it for winter...for Dalton's I have 2 in 13E and 1 in 12eee. I can not wear a Dalton in 13D as the footbed is too small and my foot spills over it though everything else fits perfect. I think the 73 last has a wider footbed so the D works with the Shaker. My measured size is 13E.

If you are a measured brannock E width I would be shocked if the 9.5D Dalton fit again solely to the footbed being somewhat more narrow. If you have any other AE lasts to reference I can tell you what i take in those also.

processed by AtomJPEG 1.3.0a

My bourbon Mora 2.0 came in. Polished with some black AE cream. They look more of a burnished brown, tobacco, cigar.

2 pics of my new McClains in dark brown. I already have a pair of dark brown Norwhichs which are part of my regular rotation so I polished these several times with the merlot shoe polish. It daylight they do show a purpleish hue.

I may need to strip these down completely and try to redie them. I wish AE had a merlot shoe cream. I see they have a burgundy...that may be a place to start?

Thoughts?

I take 10.5 3E in both Dalton and Shaker. The Shaker is considerably wider all over. A 2E would fit me better, if the last came in that width (it doesn't).

I have a tube of Merlot cream polish, so that exists, if helpful?
