Your welcome! Those look awesome on you! How I wish I didn't have such a high instep.

With the MTO gone, you're one of a few lucky owners of a burg shell strands.

Not to exciting but I finally got my black cordovan belt from the shoe bank.

Looks great. Maybe a few dry spots but all stitching looks good. For $49. Hard to beat. Wish they had a burgundy.

Looking great on Merlot Monday! I forgot about it and wore shoes by a different maker. frown.gif

Fantastic trousers, too. Are they EP?

It was almost on a whim on the offer I made to a seller, and I can't believe the quality of the uppers on this used pair. They're almost new.

However, on these the leather soles were black. Does anyone know why that might be the case? I didn't know you could get your leather soles in black, or if that might indicate a problem with the shoe. It has some numbering written in as well. Maybe seconds, or a repair, or something or the like? Or did they have a version of that kind?

I'll post pics when I can.

Black leather soles are standard on patent leather shoes, of which AE doesn't seem to offer currently (bizarre). Maybe this model was an MTO pair requesting that sole...

Great pair! Damn, is @watchidiot liquidating all his AEs?

Haha not at all. Only those that don't fit well. Unfortunately Ive come to accept that 5 lasted balmorals just don't work for my feet so I had to unload my brown shell Jeffersons. and burg shell Strands. I'm also that rare person who has problems with the 1 last so I'm also unloading my burg shell leeds though no takers yet. I'm holding on to my brown shell bayfields and navy shell dundees. I sized up on those so I can still manage with thick socks.

7 last works well for me, as well as 5 lasted bluchers. I'm keeping my AEs in these lasts.

I haven't seen a black sole on any myself, maybe someone else can shed some light. I would assume its a resole from a local cobbler. Hope you enjoy.
So it is your turn now although you werent in the place I was of not having a black shoe (if you don't count my ugly old Bostonians).

That's what I thought too but it does say AllenEdmonds on the sole. I've heard some people paint the sole black to get theall blacked out look? (Black rims on a car)

There's nothing wrong with the sole, but it didn't come that way from the factory. The factory black sole is a lacquered shiny sole, this is very obviously aftermarket IMO.

More than likely someone was trying to make them "black tie" appropriate, and painted the soles.

I've actually done the same thing out of curiosity for how it would look on my burgundy Marlow's I scored from the bay.

@bik2101 More people with 7D...😂

Yeah the 4-6 weeks sucks. I'd recommend a few things -
1. Try going to a different store to get measured - I could see them saying like 8 or whatever but not 8 plus triple e, that just sounds wrong.
2. Are you near an outlet? They usually have some small sizes onhand you could try.
3. What other lasts have you tried? 65 & 511 only or others.

Foot issues flared up on me, so had to reach for a pair of LGAs.

yeah unfortunately there are actually no 6.5E or 7E in stock anywhere. so i just ended up shipping them back to exchange for 7E. going to have to wait it out but hoping it'll be shorter than the 4-6 weeks and most importantly that it'll fit.

So I'm not hearing that Allen Edmonds actually does this or provides a shoe that way.  But what does one typically use for the paint?  I'd much rather have the original leather color, but I can't complain--if I showed you the condition of the uppers on them you'd be amazed I paid half a benjamin.

I've seen people use the black edge dressing to color/ stain the sole.

That is kind of what it looks like, although I would've thought with the finish on the leather sole it wouldn't adhere...

The model number reads:

Any help would be appreciated.

I am looking to trade or sell these PAs in #8 cordovan. They turned out to be a little big on me and have creased in the wrong spots. I want to sell them before I areas them any deeper. Hopefully, whoever buys them will fit them and can rub out the old creases. They are barely worn (you can still see the Horween logo on sole) and are first quality. What should I ask for them? They are 9.5EEE if anyone is interested.
