+1

Fitment is different.  I love the fit of my MacNeils and barely like the fitment of my McGregors.  Would definitely be worth trying both on and choosing based on fitment.

New Walnut McGregors with dark denim today

I'll chime in, WTH - agree with the others, get the one that fits better. For me, the McGregor (blucher on the 65) felt longish and a bit overly roomy in the toe box (like all of these styles). MacNeil was much narrower / tapered in the front, heel maybe a little larger, and shorter overall (tried 7D in both). The sole of the MacNeil also made them feel much stiffer.

I need versatility between khakis, wool trousers, cords, nice dark denim. Thanks for your opinion.

More versatile: McGregor

More versatile with khakis, wool trousers, cords, nice dark denim: Tie

I personally prefer the McNeil (especially in brown grain) over the McGregor in general. The McGregor does work better with a suit as it is sleeker although it technically breaks some rules (blucher with suit).

I wanted to inform everyone that I have given notice at Allen Edmonds, and my final day will be this coming Monday. My time at AE has been awesome, but it's time for a change of scenery. I don't plan on going anywhere, and if anything, this will probably allow me to be more involved in discussions. I just won't have the inside scoop on a lot of things :)

For those of you that are waiting on shoes from me, feel free to shoot me a PM if you have any questions.

Congrats on the move. A change of scenery is not always the easiest to do, though it is often best. Thanks for all your behind the scenes insight. You have been great in helping me learn about and become addicted to the brand.

Thank for your opinions! I did purchase the macneils during the RDA sale...and I have mcgregors on the way. I'll see which I like better. I do love the look of the macneil, but it is a bulkier shoe which I'm not very used to. But it is a beautiful shoe.

Cordovan Dundees are on their maiden voyage today. The sides are killing my ankles because they are not broken in yet. I hope the pain is worth it! I love the look of broken in cordovan

They're an interesting leather combo, by the way. The orange is pebble calf; the black part looks and feels like Chromexcel. I've never owned shoes on the 5 last. I know they run narrow, but man -- I usually wear 9.5 D or E, and these 10.5's fit me fine. Why does AE make most of their classic designs on this last again? I usually don't have to size up or down more than .5 either. What a weird last. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the hideousness!

If you don't want to wait until opening day you should give them a spin on Halloween.

I like to keep shoe trees in for classifieds except for interior shots.

I saw that and I laughed my *ss off last night.

I'm waiting for a listing to come up for AEs in “Horween Color # Minus-0: Transparent Cordovan”

I figured they were probably EEE. That seems to be par for the course for extra wide shoes, at least with Allen Edmonds. The extra width comes laterally, which makes it look like the rest of the shoe has been displaced medially.
