DNSamurai -- question -- what other brands have nice shoes in EEE width that I should look at?

The guy I bought them for usually wears the Delray dress shoes by Allen Edmonds --- with JEANS!  I didn't like this look and felt he needed a wingtip or something like the Dundee chukka. I went with McTavish because the finishing was more casual than the McGregor the sale team were pushing on me... I told them the end goal was to wear with Dark Levis which is his uniform.

The don't look blobby in the 10.5 EEE, they looked fairly nice. I think maybe in a 9 they could be? Also, he's a wider guy -- not slender -- so they will look proportionate on him.
I find the Delray's to look too long on his feet so welcome the change of a rounder looking shoe than long and pointy.
Well, he has the option to exchange. The pair of McTavish's in store were damaged so I had to order a fresh pair. I hope they look nice!

Thanks for your input tho!

Again, great choice. I have the McTavish in that very size, and they do hold their shape well.

Dundee would have been good too. I wear my cordovan dundees with denim pretty exclusively.

Most brands that offer this width require a special order. Alden is another brand that does this (the shoes will take months to get made though), but they're quite a bit more expensive than Allen Edmonds. AE is unique in that they carry multiple widths in ready store stock.

I own shoes across other European brands in EEE and H width, but they were all special orders that involved leaps of faith on my part where fit was concerned.

Since I wear the same size as your friend, you or he may find this post of mine interesting:

It was a real struggle to find shoes EEE width. Nordstrom is what led me to Allen Edmonds... I'd seen the store in Manhattan but never really needed to look in there... until now!

All of my AEs are the same size (13B). The 65 last is probably the best for me, with the 511 feeling slightly short, and the 108 pinching my toes a little (but still OK with thin socks).
The Flatiron, with the 333 last is really roomy. I believe that I could easily go down a half size (with no change to the B width), but I don't think that a 12.5B is an option. I'm thinking that a 12B might even work.
Can anyone share their experience with sizing this last compared to the 65?
Thank you?

So - time to post pictures of my three newest acquisitions:

Burgundy shell Park Avenues - I actually got to buy my own seconds!  I ordered these as a second replacement for my shell MacNeils that were ruined during recraft.  They were the pretty ones with the natural welt.  Since I bought these as seconds, they still owe me a replacement pair.  I still need suggestions on what to get.

The flaw?:

Burgundy shell Jeffersons - my first attempt at replacing my shell MacNeils.  Got them as seconds also.  Not sure what the defect was.

Burgundy shell Rogues - eBay thirds.  Not sure what the defect is.  Worn once, maybe that's why?

Whoever ordered these originally and the Bleecker Streets in brown shell - PM me so I can buy the rest of your shoes!!  I know you're out there.

This happens with my Carlyle 10.5 D with Large size trees.

I ended up using a $2 plastic shoe trees from China I bought from Ebay.. It fits a lot better and in this case, cedar shoe trees are A LOT worse doing the job.

Every shoe is diff size and fit. And I have 3 different size plastic shoe trees in case my cedars lack the fit.

the AE split toe trees in size medium fit the park aves fine.  i was only using the full toes based on AE's recommendation.  do you think I should just stick with the split toes, or should i try getting the full toe in small?

I think it's just because the dalton was the favorite between the two in the beginning when I was comparing them. But I am really liking the FA boots now.
