It was a limited run of 1,000 pairs a year or two ago, manufactured by AE.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

They look good, thanks for posting!  I saw one on the shoebank but it was already spoken for when I got an email back.  I'll have to check those out in person when i'm in downtown Chicago this weekend

Shoebank question:

Does the location of the shoe give a clue as to how serious a defect it might have?  For instance, will a shoe at a store be more likely to have a lesser defect than one stored in a warehouse?  Are shoes that have been returned by others stored in the warehouse and kept for resell?

I've had good luck with shoes located in a store - when I call I can get someone to eyeball it for me and let me know what they think about the shoe.  I'm cautious about those located in a warehouse - no one can look at them for me.

Sweet!

Everytime I see these I go, "gotta pick some of those up!". However, here's my "want" list from AE in order of priority:

1. return of the shell MTO program

2. new brown grain players 2.0

3. merlot Park aves.

2 and 3 may be a tie :satisfied:

No indication.  I heard from a manager that the outlet's managers order shoes from the warehouse for their store depending on what they think they can sell.  It's just luck i think.  If you have a good relationship with a SA, some may be willing to check out the defects before shipping shoes to you.

Has anyone have real life or maybe a promotional picture of the Cavanaugh in snuff suede?

I see a pair in the shoebank in my size but no pic and I can speculate what it will look like but curious about the edge trim. Need to decide if I like Loden Green better or maybe go for this snuff pair.

Edit: Took me deep on google image search to find a pic of the snuff pair. Seem to be sold here along with the loden green (which looks much more forest green in this pic)

I was at my local AE last weekend and tried on the brown Normandy. They were very comfortable! I tried on the same size as my 65 last size. The leather distressing was much less severe in person than the product photo on the website. The leather was also very soft and pliable. I know the design is polarizing, but trying them on made me a believer.

Edit: having trouble attaching pics. I'll try again later.

Well after posting here asking for advice on the Wolverine 744s, looking at pics like the one above from this morning, and getting some great responses.

Looks like I lost my chance. I called the Rack and had a sales rep go thru men's shoes in my size but she couldn't find them. Thought for sure they'd last till the wknd since are so expensive relative to 99%+ of rest of shoes there.

Sux, oh well I guess I've opened up pandora's box at this price point. I did try them on and wasn't jumping at opportunity at buying then. Appeal started more so after reading here.

I'm going to try one last time there in next few days otherwise no Wolverine shell 744s for this guy.

Does anyone know why there are no shell cordovan shoes available on the main AE website? There are still cordovan shoes in the shoebank, but every single cordovan model has been removed from the main site.

Removed temporarily because they don't want to discount them during the rediscover america sale

A few people asked - I tried all of the neumok colors - yes the blue is very dark, as is the red. Apart from the acorn, I view these as almost exclusively jeans shoes, so I wasn't too keen about blue shoes and blue denim. Decided on red neumok and green rush street. Red neumok has been really good for dress casual. As much as I like the rush street, the green has been kind of tough. I would imagine the blue might be tough too.
