So it's just the color that was different? Why did folks care? That's where your foot goes!

Mystery.

Long time reader, first time poster. I need some suggestions from you stylish gents.

I recently started upgrading my shoe rotation. My current rotation consists of the merlot McAllisters, Walnut Strands, and Bourbon Randolphs (along with some others I am trying to replace). I am considering taking advantage of the RDA sale and picking up another pair. I need something that works well with my business casual (mixture of cotton and wool trousers with button downs-sans tie) wardrobe. Any suggestions? I am thinking a blucher like the McGregor in brown or perhaps the Mora 2.0 in brown (not on sale) might be good. Should I be looking at a different style or color?

I remember your posts a few months ago about wanting to get that very bag, so I'm glad you've got it now for a great price.  I am very close to pulling the trigger.

first quality... and literally as close to 100% perfect as you can get for something handmade. In fact, I cannot find a single thing to even complain about.

The McGregor in brown is stunning.  I had a pair but had to return them because the 65 last in a blucher just didn't work for me.

Shell Kenwood is clearance - it's actually been 297 for quite some time now.😉

this is right - I got mine and they are first quality. not seconds on sale.

Any news on how the new Independence collection shoes fit/ feel? How different is the 201 to the 65 last? Same sizing, general impressions?

Yes, the burgundy cordovan color fades to a light reddish brown through wear and exposure to sub. My guess is that those are quite well worn to have patina red that much. They should still yield many years of use though. How are the soles?

Also, so many are posting their shell strands, I may as well post mine. smile.gif

What color is the she dressing in your shell strands? Pics would be great!

Black manchesters in 11D for $139.99
Tan mcgregors in 11D for $139.99

OK, here is a little secret. Take the Manchesters to the front of the store and ask them to check the price on the SKU. At my BCF they dropped the price last month to clear them to $34.99. While the price dropped the floor people do not always change the price. The worst that happens is that they tell you "No" and you can leave them there. PM me or leave a board message if I am correct for that store as well.

The edge dressing is solid "brown." Opaque, not transparent. It's literally the same shade as the leather upper.

I'll try to remember to take some more pics tomorrow. Haven't worn them in a while.

Cant remember if this is the case or not, but I think I heard that the black insoles weren't as breathable as the natural colored leather insoles.

Why would that be the case?

Just thinking aloud:

The last several lines of chukka that Allen Edmonds has offered -- the Amom, Gobi, Bleecker Street, Dundee 1.0, etc. -- have all been discontinued and reduced to clearance prices within a year or two. For some reason, they don't seem to have hit on a long-term design like they have with their Park Avenues, Fifth Avenues, Grayson's, MacNeils, etc.

Hypothetically speaking, let's say you like the Dundee 2.0, but have already bought a few new pairs shoes this year and aren't certain they're worth the extra investment. What are the odds they're available for $200 at this time next fall?

I do not understand the Chukka issue also - I understand the bleeker as it was a cool different play on the Chukka. I happen to love the Gobi and wish it would have stuck around. Seems the Dundee is hear to stay assuming the Stead leather is more expensive so perhaps they wont get to blow out pricing.

Honestly I'm not sure lol. Again, not sure if that is true or not, but I do remember hearing it.
