Interesting, as the 7 is my most reliable and favorite last. And yes, I have fallen arches AND ridiculous calves (I can't even wear certain boots thanks to the over-development in my calves—ugh!), so the double trigger goes “POW!”

Already starting on the PT (Part of the reason for my calf development is a tendency to walk on the balls of my feet—an annoying trait I can clearly trace to my sprinting days where I carried that technique into my regular walking—Chris Farley Voice: “STUPID, STUPID, STUPID”!), have an orthotic—which will soon be changing, AND my latest fave AE is The Scottsdale with the supplied comfort orthotic that walks and feels like a dream. Get old and beat your feet up, eventually they'll beat YOU up. :(

Just saw the AE catalogue and was somewhat amused by the dad jeans with the ridiculous fit names of Courage & Charisma, that is until I saw the price - they're asking almost $200?! "Stretch Technology" so they're basically a made-in-China Lycra/cotton mix. Shortly looking shearling jackets for almost $2K too. AE should get out of the clothing business because all this stuff looks like horse shit.

Seems like all the independence shoes are built on the 201 last and not the 65

Somebody buy these so I am not tempted!

You know you want them..........

Speaking of the Shaker Heights, I stumbled across the solitary pair of AE nestled in a huge number of ambiguously styled footwear today at BCF in Chitown's South Loop today...I was wondering if someone (maybe you, Kahuna) could identify the leather used on this boot as Chromexel? If so, it's my first boot or shoe in this leather; I'm really intrigued by the resistance to scratches I'm noticing. 11D is a perfect fit with sweat socks on (I'm normally an 11.5E), although boot socks may be a stretch for now. What a sweet find RIGHT before the weather shifts.

@Indyoshi68 that certainly looks like golden brown cxl...I dont recall that being a production model. Rub your finger underneath the leather pushing out and if it changes color it is cxl.

I know they did a tan one for another retailer.last year they did a brown and olive

Not sure if anyone else has noticed some things missing from the catalogue.

First, there is no merlot McAllister. No surprise there, except that they haven't made the announcement and put them on clearance yet. I'm hoping that this will be the case before they disappear from the shoebank entirely.

Second, there is no suggestion of a fifth street anywhere, unless I keep overlooking them. Does this mean they may be going on clearance in December or January? I will be in hog heaven if this is the case and I can find a brown pair in my size.

Another example of why AE should license photos from SF members. Gray shoes look like death warmed over on the website. These actually look amazing!

I'd say don't knock it if you ain't tried it. The jeans are actually great, and the courage fit are anything but Dad jeans- they are short rise and narrow leg. The Charisma cut look and fit great, more relaxed than the Courage fit but still by no means Dad jeans. They are the best jeans I've ever had by far.

Inspired by the grain MacNeils above, here are mine from AE x BB. With Leon selvedge denim.

So my 3 pairs of shoes came yesterday (speedy shipping from the warehouse!).

The Rutledge is a very nice shoe, and the 333 last fits me well, despite never having tried a shoe on it before.  My only problem is the overly heavy black burnishing all over them - much heavier than other photos would indicate.  I'm wondering if I can "undo" most of it with either AE conditioner/cleaner or something else (similar to when people clean a pair of bourbon shoes).

The second pair is the Brooks Kenwood Brown/Blue as listed on the shoebank website.  It's a very nice looking shoe, but I may not keep it simply because it was not what I was looking for when I bought it.  Otherwise they look fantastic.

And lastly, the Brooks Duke Tartan Plug.  This is the loafer I was looking for, and it's a steal as seconds (I really don't see any flaws on them).  I'm still not 100% sure I will keep them either, gotta make sure I will actually put them to use.  I like the tartan pattern, I have the BB tartan Shaker Heights, and a matching signature tartan belt.

Whoah. Those rutledges are intense.

Saphir Reno should take some of that off for you.

Yeah they really overdid it. Any other suggestions besides Saphir Reno? I don't own any, and would consider getting some, but I don't have much need for it beyond this use and I'm wondering if there is anything cheaper that might be successful.
