Swung by the store tonight to see some of the new stuff. The Normandy looks really good, but after the hell I put my RW Beckmans through, I'd take the RW IR over these. AE might look much nicer but RWs are indestructible.

Was surprised by the bates and bar harbor. I had remarked about the high quality of the camp mocs, but absolutely the opposite reaction on these. Very dull looking and the sole was much thinner than expected. Still waiting for the overlord - that one is awesome.

Been thinking about a more casual shoe for my next pair. What's your opinions on the golden Rush St, tan McTavish, and the Brooks Aberdeen? The Rush St really impressed me the last time I saw it. Would have to see if they still have the McT in the store and the Aberdeen would just be flying blind.

The Brooks models are on the same lasts, right? It's just the poron liner inside? Haven't ever tried a 222 last shoe before. Might be time for a store visit...smile.gif

I love the Rush Street, and have it in olive. I would buy it in the golden if it was available in my size.

We tried a 9.5D and my big toe was just poking the front of the shoe. I probably needed a 10C but don't think they made 'em in that width. So I had to pass.
Did you try 10B?

I'm really loving my McT's as a casual shoe.  I tried the Aberdeens in their Brooks Brothers incarnation, and they are a half-size bigger (and/or a step wider - wasn't able to try on others).  I found the BB shoe too dark for my tastes.  If they come in a casual tan closer to the McT, I'd be very tempted...

@RichieP, everyone's comments are right on the money. Personally I think all 3 are absolutely must-buys. There were other color Aberdeens but the brooks only comes in dark brown, and it is quite dark. If it was still available, id have it in every color, but mainly because they fit me so well. Been contemplating another mcT myself, in tan - great looking shoes. Absolutely nothing against the rush streets, love those too, but I prefer heavier soles like the double oak ir minilug and the rush street is much lighter. Don't get me wrong, really happy with them but would not want a second one if those. Others may think the exact opposite.

I had the same problem with a pair of thrifted vintage Beecher Wright Arch Preservers (monk straps).  It was on the right, side on which a lift is needed for shorter leg length.  So, a lift was added inside, instead of the heel (which is the usual modification).  Works perfectly to solve the problem.

Heads-up: I don't know how long it's going to last, but JAB shoe trees are $10 right now with free shipping on orders over $50:

Great timing, too, since I was in need of cedar after a few recent purchases.

@watchidiot I may have asked you before but is the blue that blue? I LOVE it so tired of Navy and blues looking black.
