Really!?...VERY interesting...though I really like the Dalton, I wouldve thought most would say the First Ave looks more versatile, practical, and more modern than the Dalton ...but thanks for your feedback...Ive got some tough decisions to make.

I am in the Dalton camp also...the oxblood and bourbon are amazing.

Wish I had a Portland, would love to see a Portland 2.0 with the fuller toe box. Man the mto possibilities.

It's not always there. Usually only during business hours. If available it will be at the top right of every page on the same line as the phone #, stores, account, shopping cart, and search box.

Thanks Shadow. I returned later and found it.

I really hate to see you at this emotional crossroads. The obvious solution is to order both boots. You can thank me later. Just blame peer pressure.

I really appreciate the support man. The last couple of weeks have been an emotional whirlwind for me since I found out about the new First Ave choices. Im still just trying to make sense of it all.. but with the emotional support of you guys, and as we're now faced with the life altering decision between two great looking boots, Im feeling much better about my ability to make the right decision at this point. smile.gif

Will the ShoeBank Labor Day sale include all ShoeBank models or is it limited to certain models?

I am looking for something in dark brown at the moment and saw these two thirds on eBay. I'm not sure about the creasing pattern on the first pair and there also appears to be a fairly significant impression on the toe. The second pair is mismatched with one light sole and one dark. I realize the coloring is significantly different, especially on the caps, but don't you think that will become less noticeable with a few coats of brown polish? What do you all think?

On the other hand, if the labor day sale will include discontinued shoes, I may just wait and get the lexington in brown.

I bought a pair of Daltons in chili during last spring's 2-for-$250 sale, and absolutely love them.  I don't wear them with tailored clothing -- other than occasionally with a tweed sport coat and a button-down oxford -- but they're a terrific way to "dress up" casual clothes.  I've probably received more compliments on them than on any other pair of shoes I own.

All current models - no closeouts.  15-30%, and usually the 30% are the ones they show on the postcard thing.  Brooks Bros are 169, the Presidio will be a little less ... :)

It was last March.  The sale ran during the week before my birthday, so my birthday present to myself last year was that pair of Daltons and a pair of brown McGraws (which I really like, and don't know why they discontinued, except maybe that the Patriot was supposed to take their place?).

Here's a photo of my McGraws.  Its probably just a fluky thing, but I think they've developed a better patina after repeated polishings than my other pairs of brown shoes.

I wish the Brooks Brothers models were available in my size (15 or 14E).  The shoebank usually has about half as many styles in my size as there are in, say, 11 or 12.  Not that I have a shortage of models I'd like to buy . . .

If shell cordovan is included in the sale, I may take the plunge.  They seem like an extravagant purchase, even on sale, but if I get a pair without significant defects, a $350 longwing would be a great shoe in which to travel; dressy enough for nice restaurants, casual enough for jeans, and sturdy enough to hold up to bad weather (within reason).

Anyone have the Club Monaco Allen Edmonds suede Leeds or Patriots?
Are they lined? How's the suede quality?

The pics look like the Leeds look lined but the navy suede Patriots look unlined to me.  I have been eyeing the Patriots for a while, hoping that they go clearance soon and I might pick them up.

Interesting take...and when you say you picked up a pair of Daltons in 'Chili' color, are you speaking of the Bob's Chili, or the traditional Chili color?
