My walnut strands are darker now, which is what I prefer anyways. Wore them today and got a few looks.

I'm' a huge fan of the strand in walnut and brown.

I have always followed the "lighter than" rule when wearing suits, but I wear walnut and other tan shoes with grey flannels all the time. Did it myself as well today.

Agreed. I think the "rule" has less application the farther you down the formality scale.

What do you guys think of these two?

My daily outfits consists of navy/stone/khaki/brown/olive chinos and white/light blue/grey OCBD's.

Will these 2 color loafers work with what I wear? I dont work in a formal environment. I actually manage a nail salon so it's ok to be a little trendy/fashionable.

Not. so. good. I feel like AE is experimenting here and these aren't that great. Especially with the sole choices.

Thanks. I'm having the hardest times finding the perfect pair.

I reaaaaally like those 2 pairs but I think you're right about the soles.. they dont mix too well.

Can you find some pairs like these with better looking soles?

I disagree about the experimental soles, at least on the camp moc. A number of vintage mocs had that sole. However, I'm not sure how it would feel being worn indoors for long work hours. I like the navy a lot myself, particularly the natural sole against the blue, as opposed to black against navy, but it's definitely casual. To ensure compatibility with the rest of your wardrobe, you may want to consider the Bates or something else is brown.

I don't think there's anything odd or experimental about the top one either. Very LL Bean-ish.

Speaking of which, the Jackman Camp Moc:

What's so experimental about a brown camp moc and a suede bit loafer?

Ah, do you have experience personally with the shoes? If so how do they stack up in feel?

Personal experience - tried the concord - it fit nicely (114) but I didn't like the contrast with the sole. Did not try the camp moc - the material felt much nicer than I expected when I picked it up. No way id use them for non-casual though.

maybe consider a neumok or Cavanaugh?

Was just browsing Shoebank and noticed they have TONS of Merlot Park Avenues available for $187. Seems like a ridiculously good price for this shoe. If I worked in a formal environment, I'd be all over this. As it stands, I'm just sticking with the black pair for the occasional formal event.
