Here is another picture of the Cornwallis. If it was used earlier, I cannot find it now. This is from the AE blog site.

Walnut strand color question. I went to a local Allen Edmond store, and the Strand i saw look like the one in the top picture. I thought it would be lighter, like the second Strand picture below. Does shoe polish make it lighter or is it the lighting in the second picture that makes it look lighter??

To me, the bottom pair just look like they have a bit better shine and better lighting. The top pair matched my walnut Rogues pretty closely. I personally liked them to be a bit darker and I used chili polish on them with good results.

These were made as a regular option for a while by AE. It was before they started doing seasonal items via Webgems. I bought these from the Shoe Bank in the summer for $99. I figured I could have a limited-wear fun shoe for that price.

If you went into an Allen Edmonds store, went into the stockroom and pulled out every single pair of walnut Strands, every pair of walnut McAllisters, every pair of walnut Rogues, every pair of walnut whatever, each pair will have a different look/ finish/ color. That's the nature of the creature with hand burnished leathers. There is no way to get any two pairs to come out exactly the same. Polishing with walnut polish will make them more orangey than anything.

They look darker in pic , in person they look very much like dark brown suede. Also they do have black dainite sole which will be very useful in fall

I measure right at at 12 on the Brannock, although my arches are a hair longer.

I've tried a lot of different sizes..... and my feet have changed slightly in the last couple years. I'm a solid 12 in most things now, where I used to be an easy 11.5.

65-11.5D/12C

108-11E/11.5D

97-11.5D/12B

BTW, Burlington Coat Factory in Thousand Oaks CA has a pair of Schautal in 11D. I believe they are under $100 if I recall. Just in case you have a burning desire for them.

I haven't looked at AE and this thread in very long time. Last I looked here, folks were emailing Shoe Bank for available inventory and deals. Now I see there is an "official" shoebank.com site. Is this the authoritative source now, or do people still email the shoebank?

I wish Paul G. would explain why AE shoes are regularly a half size or more off the Brannock device measurements.  It makes buying AE shoes online a very frustrating experience.
