I posted a pic of my Cornwallis yesterday. We did get one of the Hopkinsons in, but no Jefferson 2.0 yet.

I have a high instep and wide feet and my 10.5E shell McGraws fit great but borderline a bit too loose in the heel.

I tried to try on Patriots and couldn't get them on. They don't seem to mix well with high instep folks. Nice looking but nothing I could wear.

Found your post. The Cornwallis actually looks really nice. The last appears to have a pretty shape to it. This is promising, as I had sort of felt resigned to the fact that AEs just dont fit me very well, at least in the 65. Hopefully this means I can buy some more shoes :)

I know there is an outlet in NC, but where do these guys get such a large quantity of "no warranty" AEs?

http://www.ebay.com/sch/dabondo1/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=

http://www.ebay.com/sch/qualitysupplychain/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=

Both guys are in Huntersville, NC (maybe they're related) but that's about an hour from the AE outlet.

Can someone recommend to me what should be my next AE shoe?  I typically either wear business casual for work/meetings and the occasional suit which is typically navy or a shade of grey.

I currently own:

Black PA's

Walnut Strands

Bourbon Daltons

I am obviously missing a solid brown color or a oxblood/merlot/burgundy color.  Suggestions on which color to go with or which model?   I have tried McAllisters in merlot before and send them back because they were very purple.

Thx

I would suggest either the McGregor or Larchmont in chili.

AE for BB unlined suede brogues.  You boys probably know the model, I don't :)

In the 65 last I am 12eee for balmoral and 12e for blucher for reference.

Anyway it is the spitting image of the Fifth Ave and probably if found on the bay is dirt cheap.

Just a vote to second his experience with the Byron. The 65 last is too tight for my high instep and the balmoral lacing opens to a very wide V and looks terrible. I also found a pair of Bryrons on Ebay at a great price. It fit well and the size of the V was certainly acceptable. This is the first balmoral laced shoe that has fit me, so it figures that it was made on a last they no longer use. So, check out a cheap pair of Byrons and then have them recrafted if they fit well. It is decent solution when no other is available.

RitchieBro, for me, I appreciate the feedback of multiple SF members. One person may be correct or not. I prefer to see multiple opinions to help me obtain confidence in a consensus of experiences.

I have suggested these shoes because the derby-style lacing is considered a little more casual, and you already own two shoes with oxford/balmoral style lacing (more formal).

BTW...thank you for allowing me to browse your posts over the last few years and for sharing your insight into every aspect of shoes and style. I am an addict of AE's, having upwards of 70 plus pairs dating back 30 years. hard to know for sure because I have seeded many pairs to family over the years. I still have my first pair, black McAllisters. Again, thank you.

You, sir, are truly too kind - and too modest:  I'm sure we'd all agree that your experience/knowledge/collection would be of interest to all of us.

So, for whatever we can offer, I'm certain sharing what you have to offer would more than offset that value.

Welcome to the boards!

To the gentleman looking for his next pair of AE's; I picked up a pair of BB Warwicks in dark chili and have found them to be a great shoe for less formal suits and casual wear. I find myself going to them every time I put on grey slacks. I think the shoe is very stylish and it fits my narrow foot as wel as any shoe I have.

I have kicked around the idea of having false tongues made for my various monks to alter the style occasionally. Anybody ever attempt this?
