So I just tried on the Hagerstown and Camp Moc. Really like both of them. Went down a half size in the camp moc vs the hagerstown. 11.5 in the camp and 12 in the Hagerstown. I wear 11.5 to 12 in the 5 last just for reference.

Gotcha, I have the Maritime and didn't notice it was the same last. I went down to an 8D in them. Thanks!

Might need the Camp Moc now too, looks great.

The moccasin design for both types has been pretty standard for at least 50 years (probably much longer). The feel of the camp moc will be pretty different from your kirkwoods due to the change in hardness of sole and being flat like a driver with much less rise from heal to toe.  I am definitely getting a pair but just can't decide between those beautiful colors. I have both a blue and an olive casual belt, so I guess I'll start with one of those.

I love how deep the green is. Looks so good. I'll probably end up with navy though. I cant not get navy if its offered.... its a weakness.

Pretty wonky. I don't know if I'd keep those.

Yeah I think I'm going to have to send them back. Shame coz they're pretty damn nice otherwise :-(

I polished them with Saphir light brown.  :)

I am new to their products. Is that the cream based or the wax based? It looks like the wax comes in the round cans and the creams come in the square jars. I would also like to like to see if anyone can recommend any chain stores, or small stores in the LA area, that may carry Saphir polishes. So far, I have only seen the products online.

Make sure you ask for an exchange for another shoe/style - otherwise the refund will trigger the cancellation of your Amex promo and you won't be able to use it again.

Interesting. D width perhaps? If you ever get tired of those navy Daltons I'm sure I could give them a good home. smile.gif

They only are available in D width. Although I range from 11 E to 12 D depending on the last. 11E, 11.5D, 11.5E, 12B, 12C, 12D. lol. 5 last I wear 11.5D or 12C.

Funny you say that. I was just eyeing your Bayfields on the bay. I have them in CXL and am coveting the shell.

Not sure if I have been wearing boat shoes for too long or what...AE just does not seem to get them right for me..including many other slip ons they make. There is some sort of hump in the Maritimes almost like an arch support that hits me in the wrong spot.

I am extremely impressed with the build quality however the side walls seem a touch high and the top of the shoe seems a bit off. I ordered a 13D and 12E. I am going to order another 13d just to see if the pair I have were lasted wrong.

The right shoe is looser and that is my bigger foot. Not giving up yet!

I'm looking to pick up my 4th pair of AEs. I'd like to get a pair of Strands in Bourbon. I see the Nordstrom's sale is going on right now and they have Walnut on sale for $257. Would they order Bourbon for me at that price? I've not shopped with them much before.

My current rotation is:
Walnut McAllister
Burnished Brown Fifth Avenue
Black Byron

I wish now I'd picked the Strand over the McAllister in Walnut but I was dead set on wingtips at that time. I have a hard time purchasing the Strands in Walnut since they are so similar.

Anyone have an idea of a good place to look for a Bourbon pair of Strands in 12D?

Buy the Strands in Walnut at the sale price and then resell your McAllisters on eBay or here on SF. Nordstrom will not sell you a different color at the sale price.

Then, I'd suggest adding something during the fall sale (late Sept - mid Oct - the "Rediscover America" sale) in Dark Chili, Merlot, or Burgundy Shell Cordovan to your rotation. Walnut and Bourbon are similar and I think you are lacking something in the burgundy or reddish-brown spectrum - it's classic and versatile.

I would suggest one of the following styles (based on a fairly dressy wardrobe, since it seems you most have fairly dressy shoes):

  • McGregor in Dark Chili
  • McAllister in Merlot
  • Cambridge in Burgundy Shell Cordovan (if you're willing to splurge - it's a fantastic shoe)
  • Park Avenue in Burgundy Shell Cordovan (again, pricey but fantastic - once you go shell, you never go back!)

Is the Pope Catholic? Do bears **** in the woods? Of course they keep track of that! crackup[1].gif

These are the Brooks Brothers MacNeil in chocolate suede. Brown edging and black (proper) Dainite soles. Really nice shoes, just not sure I can live with the wonky broguing near the wingtip at the front of the right shoe. Shame as I used the Amex offer and got them for ~$170. What do you guys think - would the wonkiness become less apparent over time, or more? Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Of course, it's up to you and what you'll tolerate. My McGregor seconds came off-center like yours. I've realized I hardly notice it now while wearing them. Eye-level is always 6 feet away, or more. My pics of what they looked like here:
