Hi, I'm looking for a substitute for my Clark DB and found these Clark St for $35 shipped. They are used with great soles, however they are seconds, most apparent defect is the crooked split toe....Do you think it would be noticeable  from foot to eye level?

I received my walnut Daltons 2nds.  I didn't have a need, but I couldn't pass up $159. A streak or two on the burnish, a little wrinkling on a side panel, and that's about it.  They were also labeled 11 1/2. I held them up to another Dalton pair and they seemed to be the same length.  And the important thing is they fit fine. Here's an immediate family pic and an extended family pic.

The Promontory Points survived a downpour with the only ill effects being the tongue took on the imprint of the laces.  I figured football leather was perfect for beaters.

We should rename this to the AE Factory 2nds thread. Or the "Do these look bad enough to return?" thread.

Labeled 11 1/2.....what size are they supposed to be?

Weren't you the one who had that huge lacing gap with PAs in E & EEE?  and you went with D on the Gobi?  I think they're out of the picture for me :)

Maybe that's the "undetectable defect" in these shoes smile.gif

It seems to vary regionally. Here on the east coast it seems the pickins' are good from time to time, There'll be nothin'...then there's a mess of stuff. Going upstate a bit here you don't see 'em at the Burlingtons as these shoes end up at the Shoe banks in the malls up there,

I would think that Paul G's reddit would have been bigger news: new lasts, new trunk shows, better ordering process, new staple models, etc...

I say yes because of the balmoral lacing.
