So just received the Rogue in walnut in 10D ( though my 65 last size is 10E). As I read that Rogue is on a fuller last,I went down from E to D.

But they aren't comfortable enough width wise and I'm gonna need 10E which is my brannock size as well.

Hey all - wanted to share my recrafted shell Randolph's that are currently up on the B&S forum for $275. http://www.styleforum.net/t/502256/fresh-recraft-allen-edmonds-burgundy-shell-randolph-full-strap-loafers-size-10e/0_100

Mods - if this is against policy please remove (I thought I had seen these types of plugs on this thread before).

Could someone please elaborate on the AMEX deal allowing a $50 discount?

Anyway, what should I look for? My preference is wingtips..

I have been thinking of getting a pair of those new Macneil 2.0 in the pebbled brown leather with the Dainite soles.  But I am willing to wait for 2nds.

You are right.  Unfortunately, once I know the price had been as low as $ 221, I sort of use that as a psychological benchmark.  Not that it is right.  :)

The wholesale price of these shoes has gone up a lot since then, so the sake price reflects that. Keep in mind that MSRP is $385. You're still getting a rather large discount on two models in particular (black PA and walnut Strand) that AE never discounts themselves.

Totally know where you're coming from - wasn't it last year that shoebank advertised shell seconds at 325 each?  Unfortunately I think they're driving the baseline prices higher in general so that the 265 for firsts is probably as good as you'll get (minus the 50 amex of course).

Haven't been on SF in over a month, but good to see good deals are still to be had for AE. $197 for Jefferson is fantastic. For $200 I might even try out the LGA road warriors.

I'm about to leave SF for a while myself, so that's good, you can take my place.

And BTW - don't try out the LGA - they SUCK big time.  Finally tried them.  Cheap, lightweight pieces of garbage.  Reminds me of the emperors new clothes - people just tell themselves they are so good so they actually believe their own BS.  Shame on AE for putting their name on these things.  They make the DR ae by AE line look like gold.  Flame on - I'm ready for it.

Jefferson for 197 is unbelievable on the other hand - can't believe there are any leftover still.

You ain't giving me much to go by, so I'll have to go with the obvious - Wilberts, although they aren't wingtips.

What makes them "cheap" to you? I stopped by the AE store in Michigan Avenue earlier this month and handled some of the Road Warriors and didn't know quite what to think. The fact that they are SO light did give me some pause about them, but I'm not sure one can necessarily equate weight with quality. What was most offputting about them to me was they seemed a bit orthopedic with how round and bulbous they were, but I didn't try them on, so I wasn't able to see what they were like when actually worn.

Of your 4 choices...
the 678 last Ashton and 511 last Wilbert are my preferences, as they are both slightly wider than the 65 last Black Hills and 108 last Clark Street.

If you have tried any of these lasts, the foot-shape differences are significant enough between these 4 shoes that fitment should be considered even before your visual preference imo.

That said, I think the Ashton would be the best choice with wool trousers of the 4.
Was in the store today and checked out the shoes that I had mentioned. Passed on the Wilbert and Clark Street as they looked way too casual for my needs. Tried the Ashton but, unfortunately for me, they were too wide and room all around.

I am terrified of the 2 last after my experience with Norwich. But I will give San Marco a try. I just have to keep an eye for them on BB website as they can be had for much cheaper than what they go for on Shoebank.

regarding availibility: there should certainly be the classic styles in 2e. It would amaze me if you really couldnt get your hands on a black PA in a retail store. regardless, they will certainly order it for you.n the issue of availibility is more for sales and seconds.

caveat: im an AE neophyte myself so please dont take just my word for the above

Problem is that none of the stores have any of the E's in stock. I don't want to order something which I didn't try personally especially I wanted the custom combination top sole. Not sure if that can be returned easily.
