Agree.  With seconds now on AE main site, they ARE the entry level option, followed by clearance, followed often by full out lunacy-buying.

"Shoebank" has been way behind the times in terms of ordering and convenience and the lack of SEO / promotion significantly limited exposure.  Seconds will sell out faster with increased exposure and they will get a little more for each pair.  :(

Hmmm. Maybe they're not selling quickly enough.

Definitely just got me to bite on the $97 Stone Suede Gobi I've been eyeing. I was really close to snagging them at $147, but this was a no brainer. Threw in some clear polish to tip the free shipping threshold.

Thanks for the heads up Pepper! I wonder if the stock is related strictly to the shoes in the wharehouse?

I doubt that you'll see a permanent link to 2nds on the main site. I'm sure this will go away after the tent sale.

They probably just need extra warehouse space as they ramp up fall production.

Of course, new ownership could also have something to do with it.

Yup, Earl was his name, super nice man. And I went to Park Place - that's the one right by Perimeter, right?

Yeap. Buckhead store is Peachtree and West Paces Ferry basically.

Mine just arrived. For $69 this thing is an absolute steal.  Very soft supple leather, and of course made in the USA.

My daily bag is a tan Filson Original 256, but I wanted something in leather for when I go to court. This thing is sharp.

My only complaint would be that the strap is a little long, even on the shortest setting. I'm 6', and the bag hangs around my knees. I'll probably just take it off.

+1 on the question...where did you buy this?

Hmmm.... I find that link to the tent sale really puzzling. I know people's experiences have been mixed on this, but every retail SA has treated seconds as taboo with me. I try to never even mention them. I have been to my local stores many times - I have seen many people come in for recrafts or to buy the ae by AE stuff but I rarely see anyone get anything else, other than college grads with a parent getting their "good pair" for work.

At first, shoebank was a word of mouth thing. Then they made the website. Then they added BB. I always thought the only reason the retail store got anyone was because people didn't know about the factory 2nds. But if you link it to the main page, you open it to the masses. Maybe the link will go away in 2 days. But I think if they continue to list them, either the retail stores will be forced to sell 2nds also or I can't see how they will survive.

Yep, got all 3 of my bags I ordered.  The Park Ave bag was flawless, although I definitely agree on the shoulder strap - way too long and I didn't like the width of the strap.  Not sure what they were thinking there.  I'll just carry that one.

The Strand Walnut messenger bag is great as well, though it suffers from the long, thin strap issue as well, which is more of a problem since you can't carry a messenger bag.  It seems slightly shorter than the Park Ave so I'll probably just live with it.

The Strand Walnut slim was a huge disappointment.  It was shipped to me without the D-ring attached so I couldn't even use the shoulder strap!  I opened the bag and the shoulder strap (which was different, a good width but perhaps too short) had the broken off ring attached to it!  Not sure how that passes inspection.  I'm exchanging that one.

Yea they are. I'm most envious of the navy Greyson's. Navy is such an underrated loafer option.

The seconds FAQ .pdf on the site says it'll go away after 7 days. Don't worry, the sanctity of the firsts will be preserved! lol

Yeah, I really regret not picking up a pair of truffle mcallisters when I had the chance.

Quick question - considering picking up a pair of the Patriots.  How is the instep on these compared to the PAs (which is borderline too low for me).  And, how would I size on the 606 vs. the 5 last?  Thanks.

Looking for opinions on whether I need to go up a width in these Jeffersons (or whether my cobbler should be able to stretch them sufficiently).

Thanks in advance for any input.
