Allen Edmonds Appreciation Thread - reviews, pictures, sizing, etc... - Page 4063

Got my first 'factory-seconds' Daltons today. Thank god only imperfection I found was crease marks in one of the pair inside by the lace area. But other than , looks fabulous.

$209-$50 Amex was a bloody smoking deal on these! Went for the size 9 (same as my Cronmoks) and it was perfect. The fit/wear is almost identical on both.

These will be getting some serious wear !!

Weird, but for me at least, sizing between different models on the 65 last has varied, and I know it has for some here as well too.

For example, Strand 9E fits me perfectly, with a nice narrow V lace gap, whereas a 9E park avenue is so loose I cannot even lace the shoe up, and is 1/2 size long (excessive creasing). I've tried various colors on in-store so I know for a fact there is somewhat of a difference between the two. 8.5 I can barely get my foot in the strand, 8.5 Park Avenue fits well. Also, the MacGregor, on the 65-last, actually measures the same from heel to toe in 8.5D as my strand 9E does.

Try the European straight lacing technique:

Thank you for that link. After spending at least 30 min checking some of them out, I actually went with the sawtooth:

Again, assuming you have no arch issues at all, I guess you could try the A width - the 511 runs significantly shorter than the 65 but the toebox is definitely larger/roomier, so they might work.

I bet they would exchange them, but can't say for certain.

im an 8 in 65,97,511,and 108...i have 3 65s

I used to think 13 E fit me across many lasts...until I wore something that felt perfect then I realized how wrong fitting most of my shoes were...so the process began of purging 20+ pairs of shoes and boots...I wear a 12E or 12EEE in 65, 12.5 E in the rare chance something is available in certain lasts and 13D or 13E in many others. Bals vs blucher also make a huge difference in shoe width for me

I've noticed that as well. Knowing the last is useful but fit will also be affected by what they put on that last (both upper style and sole type), how they break in, etc. I always order 8.5 E or 9 D in situations where there is no width option. That works often enough for me to accept the occasional return or need to resell. Part of the appeal of AE for me is the ability to know your size and be able to take advantage of deals on eBay, Shoe Bank, forums, etc

Can't tell you how many times I have had this same convo with my wife. She just stops caring.

I called the NY Riverhead store this afternoon and provided my CC information.  The SA took my CC information and now I have 4 fraudulant transactions from the Long Island area.  Needless to say, the shoe order was not processed.
I am appalled that this happened and cannot believe something like this would happen when ordering AE.
Interesting. I just bought my first pair of Allen Edmonds two weeks ago, and then my credit card of many years began to have fraudulent charges. I had to close the card. Coincidence?

Maybe their database got hacked frown.gif

This is from last night in the studio. Grey smokey McTavish. Super comfortable. I love them. Actually got caught taking this. A little embarrassing:

I believe from the replies that it shows just how much variation in feet and fit exists. It is why some have said they have a fear of new or unknown lasts, and for good reason. Some lasts just don't work for me no matter what combination I try and have given up on them. But most all of my shoes and boots are the same size 10D which is TTS. The 5 last is the best fitting, for me. With the exception of the rough collection Black Hills and Elgin, also the AE made for Wolverine 744 which are all 9.5D.

It's a good question although I know they don't store credit card info. Not a tech specialist so not sure how that applies.

I think it's purged after 30 days.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Looks good - much better than the stock pics on AE site.

Did you go TTS with the Gobi?

I went down a half size but that's due to this being generous in the toebox and my feet being normal/narrower. I brannock 9.5C, these are an 8.5D.

I wear a 9D strand, 9D 511 (but I think I should switch to 9B) and 8.5D in 108/333 with a bit of toe pinch initially.
