They were always availbe in brown shell. I got a pair 6 months ago. I am thinking this is a mistake on the site. I would email Allison and ask her about it.

I stand corrected. In my McTavish, even...

I'm not sure if these have already been covered heavily as I'm a bit new here. I understand the stigma with Patent leather but I can't keep my eyes off these. Do you think these are too flashy for an "office" environment?

I think thats a wild desire of yours. AE knows they dont have to do that with an MTO... but it is wishful thinking.

I just sent Allison a quick email to check whether the sale price could also be applied to MTOs. Will keep you posted.

Rejoice: Just got this from Allison. I can honor the RDA sale price that is not a problem. The price would be $505.75.

I did manage to pick up my 2 for $250 finds. Here they are:

Yes. Too flashy for any environment. I can't think of any situation where those shoes would be appropriate.

Well crap. I just bought a pair of #8 rancourt rangers, #8 MacNeils and natty beefrolls. But a $500 custom ordered shell might just be too good to pass up. The question is, what do I want? Brown leeds with a double sole and antique finish? See if they'll use the unlined neumok patterns with shell, and get unstructured shell wingtips (or longwings?) I have enough #8, so brown I guess is the color to go with. But this is gonna be a tough decision...

I'm sure your right arm is used to that motion, you can do it.

They may be obnoxiously shiny but I can't get over the blue stitching.

I've been pondering some relatively casual boots and that tipped it; just sent in a request to get the ball rolling on some 14A reverse-welt cappuccino shell Bayfields. If they've run out of that leather I'll just get 'em done in a lighter shade of Dublin or Chromexcel instead.

THANKS, ALL YOU ENABLERS

THANKS A LOT

LOL I was just in a wedding, and you should have seen the shoes that the tux rental tried to push on us. Patent (p)leather, blucher design with 3 eyelets, squared toe, weird stitch design, plastic soles... yuck.

I (with the groom's permission) wore my highly shined black shell Park Aves. He wore some nice patent leather plain toe bluchers.
