Overall, I see no reason why any of the SA's would do something....there was definnitely some foul play, but no idea by whom.

And people are always so completely shocked to find out that I never buy anything online or over the phone and insist on traveling to the store to make the purchase in person....and you just confirmed what has always concerned me....not good.  Good luck, hope you get things straightened out ok.

I have some Tent Sale (seconds) Leeds (9501S) in Black Cordovan waiting for me on my front porch.  I wear a 12.5 D US (mostly) and I can only seem to get 12.5s MTO or shoebank anymore.

I am planning an inspection of them when I get home tonight.  I have gotten about 6 pair of shoebank over the last few years (mostly the 2 for $250 sales).  I need these because I need more black shoes for work.  I have been generally delighted with shoebank purchases with only 1 problem.

(my order was from WI and so far no funny CC activity for me - just MY own excessive charges)

Not even an option in my world....I have a single card with a low credit limit that I use for online purchases...never a problem...when violated max damage is controlled.

I also received my tan Gobis from the Shoebank. They fit larger than I expected. I ordered a 13B (normal size in 65 last), and there is too much volume in the shoe for me. I tried an insole, which helped, but the low toe box makes this unbearable. My AE Malverns in a 13D are noticeably more narrow (but similar volume). As great as the price on these is, I think I'm sending them back.

This was actually a really informative post - appreciate it.  No longer considering the Gobi in my 65 last size, no way it would work.

Gobi would not fit in my 65 last size either. Would be huge.

I take Gobi on my brannock length a width less...for suede. Will find out shortly if same holds true for the regular leather

I just picked up a pair of 2 tone brown Shelton's from the shoebank. I was on the fence, and never really cared for them, but for the price I figured what the heck. I am was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box for the first time, these are seriously awesome!

Now I just need to figure out what to wear them with… Definitely not an everyday shoe.

I tried the Brooks Shelton earlier today too - not bad looking, but not really my style.  Nice shoes though.

Thanks again - the super discounted Gobi is only available in my 65 size so I guess I'll pass.  Wound up going with the Larchmont, Brooks Aberdeen, Patriot & Jefferson today.  I absolutely don't need more commando-soled rainy day shoes, but son-of-a-bitch are those Aberdeens comfortable.  Couldn't believe it - I love the 222 last and everything but these were beyond.  They definitely aren't the best looking shoes, but they have to be among my most comfortable like - ever.

Huh, interesting. Might have to visit the local store for some recon (on those and the boat shoes too!)

Just opened my golden brown Maritimes and I have to say I am VERY impressed.  The CXL leather is beautiful, and these shoes are truly a steal at $125.  I ordered a pair in navy but they have yet to ship.

My only concern is maybe with the fit, but I don't know how real it is.  The fit is about as close to 100% perfect as I can get, as far as length/width . . . but I have heard that CXL tends to stretch/relax with time.  Should they feel a bit more snug the first couple of times you try them on/wear them?  I worry that, although the fit is spot on now, they will end up too loose down the line.

Thoughts?

I'd agree with this, especially if there's shell at the Shoebank in your size. Search for peppercorn's Bradley pics in this thread. Looks much better than the website pics. I am tempted myself for something different.

That said, I do love my Bob's chili Bleecker streets too!

Take your time...there is a world of leathers to choose from and shell is not always the answer. Depending on wardrobe style, work enviroment etc..it is not always the main choice. I have a bunch shell shoes and boots and I really do not reach for them more than other leather shoes and boots.

Meanwhile, I just finished packing for a 4~5 day business trip and it seems I'm bringing 3 pairs of shoes, all shell. San Francisco rains, but at least it's not Portland. Guess I'm taking my chances.

Hah. I can relate to that. I once brought 5-pairs on a 6 day trip. Only brought 3 shells this trip.

I started with 65 last size and immediately knew there was too much volume. Should have listened to my SA the first time around. I am happy with 1/2 size down, though they might be a little snug if they were calf.

I probably would have tried a 12 1/2 B if there was such a thing. I think that a 12 B would be too small.
