I've always thought it odd that the Nathan (punch cap Oxford) wasn't offered in brown. Tan (walnut) but not brown. A brown punch cap is a staple of CM but they've never offered it in that color AFAIK.

Anyway, if I were wanting to take advantage of that sale but needed an E or wider, I'd simply go to a brick and mortar JAB and ask the manager if he could order one in at that price. All they can say is no. And as noted above, they've offered wide sizes in the not too distant past, eg last year.

A year or two ago during the big Nordstrom sale, they had some colors of the Nuemok at a huge discount. I asked the department manager if he could order me the (not on sale) snuff suede at the sale price. It was going to have to be drop shipped anyway. He said "sure." It was like free money to his store.

I've been meaning to walk in some day. Its like 5 mins from my apt.

I'd recommend it. But for the first trip leave your wallet at home. smile.gif Just get acclimated.

Wow . . . that's really rough . . . but I'm glad to hear that things are looking better and I hope the trend continues!

I bought the saphir polish and not creams, but it seems my skills are limited unlike other members when it comes to getting that mirror shine.

My shoes look great don't get me wrong but when I look at others who get a better shine, it makes me wonder what I"m doing wrong.

I'm not expert on shoe shinning so I went on youtube and found J.fitzpatrick tutorial on how to get that mirror shine with the 3 step water process.

Also, I bought some edge dressing and WOW what an improvement! It literally transformed my shoes back to looking brand new.

Pics?

In the picture the Lasalle looks more red, but in real life it's chili. Pics don't do this shoe justice

One picture is in direct sunlight. Edit, my pictures are terrible

So I need a recommendation! I decided to go with a Brown shoe for my medium grey suit. The problem I'm having is for the life of me I can't decide on the color! Walnut seems too light and Brown Burnished seems to dark. Personally I don't like the chili/ redish shoe. I'm looking for a medium brown. Anyone have the bourbon in the Strand or Fith Ave?? The bourbon looks good but hard to tell online if it will be too light or not? Any help is appreciated or pictures! Thanks!

Try the burgundy color posted above. JosB is having a sale for Nathan(Fifth Avenue) http://www.josbank.com/menswear/shop/Product_11001_10050_299318?mid=38377&siteID=je6NUbpObpQ-cWE.x2FQdr0WNYRv8sK_kQ

Thanks! I know I'm alone here but I just don't like the redish shoe. It also seems like it would be hard to pair a belt with that shoe? I'm really leaning towards bourbon or brown burnished in strand or Fith Ave but I'm afraid to take the risk on a color when only seeing it online! I don't have time to physically go to the store before my event.

X-Post from the AE MTO thread, my Brown Medallion-less Strands. You can see that the Dark Brown Burnished isn't too dark at all. Any light gives them a great depth.

Walnut, bourbon, dark chili burnished, dark brown burnished, merlot.

Thank you! Just what I was looking for. The Bourbon might be a winner although looks a little dull. Are those all yours? If so what pair would you generally wear with a medium grey suit?

Yes, those are my Strands, left out black and brogue suede. Generally, it would be a toss-up between bourbon, chili, and merlot based on a couple factors. Lilac shirt (or any variation of purple cuff links) leans me toward merlot. Pink shirt (or red tie) leans me toward chili (I have to fix the laces, red was a failed experiment). If the suit has peak lapels I'd lean more against chili. If I'm going in to the office I might just go with the brown burnished anyway. Somewhat depends on how dark the grey is as well. I've seen "mid greys" that have quite a range, walnut might even be okay if the suit is light enough and I'm going to some relatively casual summer weekend social event (though I probably pick spectators instead). My brogue suede pair has dainite soles, so those get the nod when the ground is a little wet.

Important to note is that bourbon is walnut with burnishing on it. Some very common shoe care products will strip that off and you might find yourself very disappointed.
