I didn't try both 7.5E and 7.5EE at the same time. I read around and it seemed like others had success sizing down one width due to the larger toe box so I decided to try the same. I can say that there's definitely enough room in the toe box for me. The heel feels just a tad longer than my 5 last shoes, but not to the point where I'm slipping out.

I know that the Father's Day sale is just starting today, but I'm looking forward to fall. Does anyone remember if any of the cordovan offerings are on sale during the Rediscover America sale (and if so, which ones)?

I can't decide if I want a Leeds, a Macneil, or a Bradley next.

I think most if not all of them are. I know the Strands were.

Everything was at least 15% off.

I'm pretty sure I read here that the Park Aves fit tighter than other 5 last balmorals.  Unfortunately, I can't find the post now but I'd like to confirm this before considering my next Strand purchase.

Thanks.

I haven't experienced that, and I can't think of a logical reason why that might be.

They really need to bring back Amok, especially in Snuff Suede.

My McAllisters are tighter than my Park Aves, so I'd say no.

I would say the park aves fit tighter than some others like the neumok, rush st, etc. but purely due to the material and not the last. I would absolutely go with the same size in all. The mctavish runs boxier and wider but that was sort of an exception.

Thanks for your input, Gentlemen!  My feet grew last year, apparently a full half size, as I learned when I tried on a pair of Park Ave's last week.  I only hope they don't shrink back after updating my sizing!

AE really has great customer service.  It would have been nice if I hadn't had to return the Dalton's they sent me twice because of defects, but ultimately they got it right and were super-nice about it...and in the exchange process AE sent me an extra pair of Dalton's by accident.  I called and returned them and as a thank you for my honesty they sent me a $100 gift card.

I was going to hold off on additional purchases this year but with the $100 card and current Amex promotion of a $50 statement credit (if spending 200; good til August I think) I can get $150 off, so I'm not sure what to get next and could use some advice.  I wear a suit 2x/week, a sportsjacket and slacks 2x/week, and slacks and a button down 1x/week, with dark washed jeans in the evenings and on the weekends.

In addition to the dark chili Daltons, I have a pair of bourbon MacGregors--both purchased earlier this year.  The rest of my shoes are from a sadder time.   I have a three pairs of black shoes (one laced, for court appearances and wear with my midnight navy pinstripe suit, one "dressy" loafer for travel and one similar loafer that I used to wear with jeans before the Daltons).  I have a dark brown pair of bulchers I still wear to give my MacGregors a break (and which I still really like), a mid-brown loafer that I wear with jeans when not wearing the Daltons (i.e., in the summer time) and a light brown shoe that I pretty much never wear now.  All are in good condition and well-maintained but most are trendier shoes.  I don't have any cap-toed shoes, and none are balmorals.

I am pretty much settled on getting one of three things:  black fifth avenues or mcneils, or walnut strands.  I would get the fifth aves to fill the cap-toed balmoral void.  I like fifth aves better than park aves b/c of the brogueing, and may even consider mcneils because while flashier they would definitely upgrade my black shoe collection.  Alternatively I would get the strands to rotate with the MacGregors with suits and slacks and also to substitute for the Daltons with jeans in warmer weather and for a change of pace.

I think it comes down to the importance of a cap-toed balmoral.  I feel like a fool when I wear my black shoes even though they are nice enough looking and well-polished.  Thoughts?
