Allen Edmonds Appreciation Thread - reviews, pictures, sizing, etc... - Page 3987

Anyone from Europe that has ordered from allenedmonds.com? Or is it maybe a cheaper alternative somewhere? I was thinking to order a pair of maritime. I think that will be a good pair of shoes to have in the summer. Many in this thread are speaking highly of this model so I'm confident that it will be the right model for me.

I dropped down a 1/2 from my 65 last - but this was largely due to the volume of the shoe and the fact that mine were suede. Keep in mind I have low arches/volume feet. I had both 9d (tts/65 last size) and 8.5d before ultimately deciding that the 65 size was just too big in the toe box and near start of the lacing.

With your case, I would start with the 10.5D, then perhaps try the 10eee. Enjoy them!

Love the color those edges turned out, I think they look great. I have been having a hard time sanding down my Patriots, seems to take so long to get down where the leather is clean.

What did you use for the edge color?

Thanks. Yeah it took longer than expected for me as well, but after one shoe was done I had no choice but to finish the other as well :)

For the edge color, I thought of getting the leather dye but that never happened so I ended up using 2-3 coats of AE bourbon premium shoe polish ->AE chilli edge dressing  and finished with AE neutral carnauba wax and brushing.

Thanks @mreams99

Nice to have a consensus. I appreciate the feedback, everyone. I'll definitely start with 10.5 D.

Really nice results!  I might have to try the same formula on my pair; they could use some TLC as well.  The no flash photo look good as new, but really nice shades/patina showing in the flash photo :thumbs-up:

I've been looking for a merlot/burgundy/oxblood wingtip (at the right price, which is a low number) for months.  I prefer oxfords to derbies, but found a nice looking pair of McGregors.

Can anyone talk me into these over continuing to wait for McAllisters? Or offer up another wingtip style?

Thank you! I am really pleased with them and with how they turned out after all that hard work.

I like the McGregor a lot. I think it's a very sleek shoe and a classic design. Some people don't like the idea of a single-soled more "formal" looking longwing, but I think it works quite well.

Despite saying I was done with shoe purchases for the near future, I added a few new kicks to the collection: Rogue, Warwick, Franciscan, Clark Street, and LGA. I think I will end up keeping all except the Warwick (too much volume for my foot) and possibly the LGA (not sold on design, so they better be extra comfy). Uploaded the monk strap last week... will try to snap some picks of the others as they make it into the rotation.

Oh almost forgot - DAMN you, fellow SF'ers, for being such enablers!!!

Here is the maiden voyage for the Clark streets. Yet again, another example of the shoe looking better in person than the stock photos. I was surprised at how comfy the dainite sole was out of the box.

Went to Horween today. Thought you guys would enjoy seeing the photos and such that I took, along with what I learned, so I made a thread about it - http://www.styleforum.net/t/490171/a-morning-at-horween-leather-company/0_100

Hi there! I've been following this thread closely for the past while and finally bought my first pair of Allen Edmonds. Of course it'd be the gorgeous walnut strands, 9D. I was wondering if you guys know whether or not the creasing I'm getting is normal? I've only worn the shoe a handful of times.

I think the shoes fit pretty well (ie. 8.5-series really hurt my feet, and 9B is too tight). They are a tiny bit loose first thing in the morning but within an hour it feels pretty good.

Thanks in advance guys!

Several of my shoes crease like that on the left foot as well. Mostly just 5 last shoes. I wouldn't worry. If the shoe fits, wear it!
