^^ lovely pair of Maritimes. Very cool shoes - almost bought a pair myself.

Also, re: the MacNeil 2.0 - they failed to address the one design thing about it I can't stand - the way the eyestays come down all the way to the longwing. I think it looks clunky. I also don't like the way the "lifted" upper design makes the shoe even more crowded. They should have taken a page from Alden or Carmina and taken the scale of the shoes down a notch.

Here they are first day wearing, paired with dark grey slacks; they look a bit darker in person:

Wanted to run two items by you guys-

1. Just received a pair is brown mora seconds. Absolutely perfect ....EXCEPT for a very noticeable scrape on the toe. About the size of a fingernail. Is there any way to fix something like this? It does feel different in texture from other parts of the shoe, so I suspect this is a scrape of the leather and not just the finish.

2. I have a pair of Vernon seconds that fit great but the heel area squeaks persistently every single time I step. The shoe fits well. I've already tried applying a ton of lotion to the inside of the heel overnight, next day same squeaks. It just sounds like the sock moving against the heel area. Again, fits well so no heel slippage etc. Any ideas?

I have looked into getting some AE boat shoes, but the fact that most are now made in the Dominican is a turn-off.  I've got a few boat shoes from Rancourt now.

re: 2.:  I had the same issue when I received a pair of mcgregor seconds and it was not an issue with the shoe.  It took about 10 wearings and when they broke in the noise stopped.

My Centerfielders wore out after just one summer last year, and my replacement pair doesn't look like it will fare much better. I am liking the looks of those green Kirkwoods, though, but would like to see them be a slightly higher quality shoe, and am wondering if that's what you get for the extra $60.

Yes, absolutely worth the extra $$.  The chromexcel leather makes these the best boat/loafer/summer/dock shoes I've ever seen.  I have the Eastports and the Kirkwood/Maritimes are MUCH nicer.  I have Sperry's too, and again, no comparison the new AE's are just on another level.

I wear almost nothing else besides boat shoes and shorts in the summer here in Colorado and I'm gonna replace both the tan Eastports and the red Sperries with Maritimes in the same colors.  I find a 3 shoe rotation is a must for me, just like with any other type of shoe.

I'm very glad to hear the recent discussion regarding the Maritime and Kirkwood shoes . . . I've been thinking about getting one of each!

Anyone think we'll see a sale on firsts in these styles for Father's Day?

Yes. If the sale is like last year's, $125?

Wow, worth holding out for the current model than vs. risking Shoebank at $97 for last year's, unless anyone has reason to believe I'm wrong. If so, I'd like to hear it.

I would love to pick up one of these. (OK. I admit I'd like to get both!)
