Can you elaborate?/enlighten me at all?

Special makeup shell seconds, which are not on the shoebank.com website, are going for $349-399. Check the AE MTO thread.

Ben at the AE Shoe Bank in Freeport has a lot of them in many sizes, and the other shoe banks have a few others but nothing quite like what they have at the Freeport outlet.

BUT...they deduct the value of my Duty paid from the next order - every time - so $$$-wise I actually come out ahead via the value of Exchange...

Moral is:  If for whatever reason you are not happy with the overall company/product, then by all means, leave it...but if your issues are specific (and you're whole FedEx delivery thing would annoy the f---ing hell out of me for sure), then TELL THEM, and give them a chance to make it right TO YOUR SATISFACTION.  Man, if I told you some of the shite I've done/given away for free to keep a customer's loyalty, you'd be amazed.  But when I company TRULY wants to have you're business, let them know what it will take to earn it - you'd be surprised what they're willing to do to make you happy :nodding:

Not to spoil your party but you are confusing DUTY with TAXES. Products from the USA are exempt from DUTY, but not TAXES, just like if you bought them from a store here. If you're in Ontario expect 13% of your purchase price + a 9.95 fee from Fedex per shipment. Hence why AE does not charge Canadian taxes at checkout.

Its rarely avoidable, and CBSA has been extremely strict in charging it recently.

I wish it were so..but my waybills clearly indicate 1 line "taxes" - 13% HST that you are absolutely correct cannot be avoided - and separately a line for "Duties" - explaining why my $127 US$$$ PA's came with a bill for $60.99 Duties + Taxes (i.e. Declared Value was ~$200 Canadian, which actually included shipping charges WTF?, where 13% would be $26 + $10 FedEx...well you get the idea..)

It's messed.....

Shocking... is Country of Manufacture filled out on the customs docs submitted by AE?

When I was there (mid-April), there was a pile of these SMUs in boxes on the floor - I wouldn't say there were a ton, but there were quite a few.  No small sizes whatsoever, in case people were looking for sizes below 9.  Lots of E/EEE that I saw.  Ben showed be a Navy shell Grayson - best looking shoe I've seen in a long time.

Absolutely...which FedEx told me directly means nothing to them unless accompanied by a NAFTA Certificate from AE....and you gotta think that AE's done this before so they know what they're doing, ergo it's FedEx's screw up..indeed, 1 of my shipments comes no duties/no taxes, 1 come taxes only, and 2 come duties + taxes...messed, just messed...

But AE always  makes it right - and that discount they give me comes off their top line directly, I mean it's not like FedEx is refunding it to them at all

Its such an pain trying to get AE shoes in Canada, save for paying $500+taxes retail @ Harry Rosen or Nordstrom. I shudder at the thought of all the money i've spent on duties/shipping/returns etc in the past year dealing with shoes that don't fit, have defencts, etc... probably enough to fund more than a few new shoe purchases. The US members really dont know how good they have it with free shipping/returns... then again, if I was in the US i'd probably have way too many shoes.

lol....I won't buy them @ Harry's - too expensive, and frankly, managing a Moores store, I know their schtick - namely, even for a $500 shoe I'm lucky to get anyone's attention - which annoys me given how I can get 20-yr old car salesman up to buying MTM suits yet they can't seem to give me the time of day...

Norstrom's I haven't tried, but I'm in Ottawa frequently so I'll check (I actually hired a guy who left us to work in their suit dept.)...and yah, if u think "Canada" is tough to buy shoes in, try "Moncton" LOL

I've had the same experience at Harry's - snobbish/stand-offish SA's that make me avoid going there. Nordstrom is much friendlier and actually has much better selection/sizes.

It's a mindset thing - I know of SA's at Harry's who gross $100k/yr in commissions - they don't do it by selling $500 shoes lol

All that's left for me is to convince our Shoe Buyer to bring in JAB AE's from our parent company (Men's Warehouse) :)

Nordstroms was great here in Calgary, took my brother in law to get sized for his first pair of AE shortly after they opened. The SA was super helpful and friendly and my brother in law ended up leaving with his brown Park Aves happy as a clam. The only person I was able to get some great help from at Harry's here was a manager who claimed to own 80 pairs of shoes, mostly Carmina. Needless to say we had a nice long talk in store haha.

Glad to hear...it's always the Store Manager who'll give u the best service - I know :)

If Nordstrom's does this right, they're gonna cause Harry's some major headaches - particularly in Shoes lol

I count myself very fortunate to live in the Greater Vancouver area, I'm only 20 min north of the border. When I purchase nearly anything from the US (ebay, Amazon, AE, Shoebank), I have the order shipped to Blaine, WA. $5 to pick up, and I've only ever been charged taxes once on the return trip, and that was for a $300 pair of headphones I was picking up that my son ordered.....
