I want to get the Amoks but I've read that the 1st run of these shoes were abysmal and that the 2nd run was much better; however, being these are clearance/close out prices, does that mean these would be 1st run Amoks they are trying to get rid of?

It was the 2 for $200 sale at AE outlet (phone/email orders accepted) that happened at the beginning of May (ran for a week or so). Mixed of first and seconds.

clearance is for the amok"1" (i.e. the ones that come in standard width only)

it was the 2/200 sale. I got a pair of first carlsbads and the malverns were 2nds. That being said, i cannot find what would make them seconds. They look perfect to me.

drat!!! I don't mind the width but there's been topics about the quality of the "1" vs the "2", saying the "2" was VASTLY better.

Just pulled the trigger on walnut strands from the shoe bank can't beat the $199 price, I was about to pay 160ish for a used pair on eBay.

Anyone have a photo of strands with the toe caps mirror shined?

I like a little shine on my strands, but a uniform subtle shine, that's all. This example kills the cap details, while making the cap look foreign to the rest of the shoe, just my input confused.gif

I'd have to disagree, it looks great and quirky to me.

I guess it takes one who knows the time & effort it takes to spit-shit your shoes to appreciate it

I spit shine plenty of my shoes, so I can appreciate the technique, but just shining the cap feels like a job half done.

To each his own...
