Allen Edmonds Appreciation Thread - reviews, pictures, sizing, etc... - Page 3739

I was looking at the spring catalogue, linked earlier, and didn't see anything with the independence line up.  It seems like the line up is dead.  The only shoes left on the AE website is the Rutledge and the Jefferson.  I hope they keep the Jefferson design, but didn't see it mentioned in the spring catalogue.

I wish I had been around for the walnut shell days, walnut Dundees are amazing. Will have to order natty shell Dundees as a sub if the trunk show come around again.

Edit: Actually a MTO Dundee in Natty or Golden Brown CXL with Dainite soles would be pretty sweet. Really wish AE sourced brown Dainite to match lighter colors better.

This was requested on to the MTO thread. It is a last comparison between the First Avenue on the new 201 Last (10.5D), Alden Grant Last (10.5C), and C&J 341-Last (9.5E UK = 10.5D US).

L to R: AE First Ave in Navy Shell, Alden Ravello Shell "Daytripper", and Crockett & Jones Whiskey Shell Harlech.

This may have been brought up and I missed it, but does anyone know if AE is bringing back the green Neumok? I noticed about a month ago they disappeared from the site.

I asked Paul about the independence line on his most recent reddit IAmA and he said there are plans to alter it. Something along the lines of offering current styles in an independence version. Not sure if that's still in the works.

I also agree about the Jefferson. I think the pattern is much cleaner and more balanced than the McAllister.

While I wasn't the one asking for this, this is great. Thanks! The 201 looks pretty great, and there's no clear winner. Ironically the first Avenue boot appears to have the longest cap which is rarely the case for AE.

I remember reading that - I think in that same post he talked about the comfort line and about the 201 rogue last, so bet the independence line thing is still in the works.

The Jefferson is discontinued btw.

The site still shows it as a current style. Was there additional information released recently? I kind of wanted one in burgundy shell someday.

Thank you for the quick response. How do you like the look of them? I'm also on the fence but with the price being $157, I might just pull the trigger

You know, I wasn't sure if I'd like a long-wing, but I do like these. Looking down, they look like any other wingtip. I knew I wanted this suede color and was in the mood for something plain-toe. Tried on some Gobis a few weeks ago, but couldn't get a good fit, partly because of the suede being so lightweight and maybe it was the 809 last.  The Mcgregor definitely fits and feels better. My only other option would be a stone suede Cavanaugh, and I just have no good loafer fit/size at the moment.

Also, whereas the Gobi is clearly more casual, I wouldn't be ashamed to wear these in the office, thanks to the thinner single sole with it's nice brown edge.

My other thought had been to try a golden Rush Street, but thought I should save my captoe balmoral slot for a real Strand (maybe even that nice dark brown cordovan that CMT1 has!).  And then today i see there is a tan suede Strandmok in my size on the shoe bank.  Not sure about those white soles, though.  That would really make it more casual.

I hope not.  I want one in a brown shell.

The Jefferson isn't going anywhere, at least to my knowledge. Have no fear.

The Olive Neumok is on closeout, so if there is still one in your size at the shoebank, you should snag it now (and you'll get a great price).

Otherwise, you can go for a green Neumok for $199 during the current MTO promotion ending 2/28. I haven't seen it in person, but it looks like a bottle-green calf in the photos I've seen.
