Yeah..btw, forgot to tell you a couple pages back, those are sick. Some of the "coolest" looking (in the hip sense of the word) shells ive seen really...Do you find that the navy shell is more distinguishable from black than i have seen it look in some pics? (Not these, but in other pics it seems like the navy and green are hard to even distinguish from black shell)..and if it does appear similar in real life, is that something you expect will change as the shell ages?..and is there some sort of navy cordovan cream that AE carries, or do you just use the black?

Thanks. In sunlight the blue definitely comes through. It is quite distinguishable from black in person. As they age they should lighten a good bit, too.

AE doesn't carry any navy cordovan cream, but I don't intend to use any. So far I am only using the Mac method (wipe down with slightly damp cloth, lots of brushing, and buffing with soft cloth). At some point if I decide to put some product on them, I will probably use VSC or Saphir Reno. Haven't decided yet - need to do more research, first.

Uh huh.....well im digging the natural (toasted?) edging too...gives it a more youthful casual feel..they wont stand out as such a mature stodgy shoe in casual settings...it looks more like a conscientious wardrobe piece and a style statement rather than just safe shoe color...good job, in my opinion

Thanks. Like I mentioned in the MTO thread, I can't take credit for the design (these were a duplicate of another member's order) but am very happy with them.

I'm sure you'll be fine. I've shipped boots via USPS countless times before and never had a problem till just now. Their tracking info leaves a lot to be desired, though.

Just picked up a pair of new BB SH tartans in walnut on Ebay for a great price. Not sure what kind of pants I'll wear walnut boots with, but again, great price.

Picked up a pair of Mckinley Golden Brown Xl for shorts and no socks. Firsts on clearance for $77. Figured I'd see what they look like and send em back if I didn't like. I think I'm going to keep them but not sure yet...

and what happens is that even when the occasional poster posts about his excitement surrounding a new order he has placed, they drop the post and must disappear/get dissolved in the rolling discussion about sales, fit issues and seconds/defects for another 4 weeks until their actual shoe arrives...so there is about a 3-4 week window between a customer being excited about a new order for a new model he has placed, and that customer's next post actually showing anything APPROACHING appreciation/pics of the product he has received. I guess for numbers guys or for people who like discussing the measurements/logistics of a product rather than the style/design of it, this is cool...but to me it just seems SOOO tedious at times..lol..Im not even saying any of that should change for the purposes of this thread..i just think it would be nice to have a thread dedicated solely to people who are already happy with their AE's and would like to post pics of how they wear their shoes.

Seriously, I do feel sometimes that our expectations of perfection lead to our own disappointment and frustration that is shared with the world via this thread.  Instead of being cheerleaders for AE, we inadvertently act as detractors.  I am an AE fan and I love their shoes.  I wish we (me included) would all use a bit more discretion when venting about our unrealized expectations.  I will say that the 1 or 2 times I had issues with AE, they bent over backwards to satisfy me.

Just to make a small point... I've got less than 10 posts. Excluding the pic I just posted, I've posted 2 other pics of shoes. I've not seen one response. Literally. Not one. However I bet if I bring up a topic of sizing or pricing or seconds or whatever, that will get some traction.

I don't post pics because I need anyone's conpliments, I do it to show everyone what something looks like. When not a single response is received, it's a pretty clear indication that the posts are not valued.

Just something to chew on while you guys debate this

Sometimes posts get lost amidst another active discussion. Don't take it personally. I'd venture to say that participation and posting is valued highly by the community.

Also, just because a post isn't immediately responded to doesn't mean it's not valuable. When I have a question, a thought, a concern, or am interested in a particular shoe or topic pertaining to anything that might be posted on this forum or in this thread, I search. And amongst the tens of thousands of posts in this thread, I often find something useful. After having found a useful post, however, it doesn't always warrant a response. Responding to a post from several days, weeks, months, or years ago doesn't make sense unless you need to follow up (and after a while it's better to PM than reply to a post).

So while a post might not have been replied to immediately, it is still valuable as a resource for the future.

Also, posts that have questions for other members or the community in general are more likely to be replied to. Posting some pictures doesn't always elicit a reply.

IMO this thread needs more pictures of people wearing shoes!

Welcome. Nice choices. Wear and enjoy in good health.

The creasing you're describing might be the result of imperfect fits or that the 5 last just isn't right for your foot (all these shoes are on the 5 last).

Put your money where your mouth is and slap on some shoes for a photo. I posted my Dundees and my pajamas, so you surely can find something of yours to post!

I don't think that discussing sizing or quality issues detracts from the theme of the thread. For instance my first few posts were about quality issues, but now that they are resolved and I have a defect-free well-fitting pair of Walnut Strands, I am having a blast and have been following this forum and plotting my next purchases ever since.

These AE Walnut Strands have easily become my favorite shoe of all time. They are comfortable, stylish, and have already received many compliments. And just as important, they are quality shoes, very well built, and appear to be very durable.

I am a big (albeit new) fan of AE, but it would be neglectful to place fingers in ears and hum quality issues away. True appreciation isn't expressed by being cheerleaders absent merited criticality.
