More walnut shell Daltons then most people will see in their lifetime:

The ones on the left are new, while the ones on the right have been worn a couple of times.

Kahuna -

Maybe I should adopt you.  I'm a 12 EEE.

Seriously, I do feel sometimes that our expectations of perfection lead to our own disappointment and frustration that is shared with the world via this thread.  Instead of being cheerleaders for AE, we inadvertently act as detractors.  I am an AE fan and I love their shoes.  I wish we (me included) would all use a bit more discretion when venting about our unrealized expectations.  I will say that the 1 or 2 times I had issues with AE, they bent over backwards to satisfy me.

Look at the size of this thread!  They need a whole AE forum: Appreciation, MTO, 2nd's yea or nay, sizing, etc. Just to perk you up, I'm 'bout to show some appreciation.

There is already a MTO thread... ;-) It is apparently about 10% the size of this thread, which is actually quite amazing giving its age relative to this thread.

Lol....Thought i was the only one who noticed this minor oxymoron: the very fact that literally every other post in an appreciation thread is about a defect or how to get seconds/how to avoid (virtually ever) paying full retail prices for any of the products begs the question: what are we really appreciating?...discounts or the shoes?...and if we are just appreciating discounted shoes (with the understanding that they will often be riddled with defects and flaws) then that really does imply that we all simply have lower standards than the average shoe buyer here, or that retail AE's are indeed inferior to most other real shoe makers...both notions that im sure some would posit are true in any event.

Oxblood Dalton with Grey Suit.  I think the Oxblood looks great with the grey.  Pretty much all I wear for suits is grey or navy, so I'm set!  I was at an important lunch meeting, and at one point I'm thinking: "No matter which way this goes, I really like these shoes!"  What a dork. Now I'm just hoping a Promontory Point pops up in my size on Shoebank. I didn't like them at all at first, but now they're growing on me.   Any AE boot that drops below $100 has to be purchased on principle.

And pricing too. It talks about that a lot too.

Yes...too much to tell the truth...and fit issues also...it seems that since AE carries a million different sizes, you wind up having 3/4's of the convo being about the millions of possible sizing/last combinations instead of just showing the shoes and discussing the advantages or disadvantages of the style and how you can wear them...it seems like so much of this thread gets bogged down in discussing the micrometrics of fits and sizing and shoebank sales vs. Dept store sales etc....

and what happens is that even when the occasional poster posts about his excitement surrounding a new order he has placed, they drop the post and must disappear/get dissolved in the rolling discussion about sales, fit issues and seconds/defects for another 4 weeks until their actual shoe arrives...so there is about a 3-4 week window between a customer being excited about a new order for a new model he has placed, and that customer's next post actually showing anything APPROACHING appreciation/pics of the product he has received. I guess for numbers guys or for people who like discussing the measurements/logistics of a product rather than the style/design of it, this is cool...but to me it just seems SOOO tedious at times..lol..Im not even saying any of that should change for the purposes of this thread..i just think it would be nice to have a thread dedicated solely to people who are already happy with their AE's and would like to post pics of how they wear their shoes.

This is how I am wearing my shoes, right now, as I am wearing my new Navy shell Dundees around my place to break them in. And yes, I am wearing ridiculous pajamas.

Comfort and style. Really appreciating Allen Edmonds right now.
