I agree. It's better to kick yourself down the road for having paid $75 more (unlikely), than to kick yourself down the road when they're out of stock and next sale availability is hypothetically $449 in a year and a half.

I don't see $299 coming back ever, and I'd frankly be shocked if $325 happened again.

For me it would depend on what else is in my stable. Between those two, I would go with the oxblood as the Carlyle is, IMO, a dressier shoe.

X-post from MTO thread . . . green shell Leeds, maiden voyage:

I just opened my Duggan Plazas that came via delivery today.

Any of you Walnut Strand people out there that would like a little variety go pick these up! It's a nice complement from a different, yet similar looking shoe! A great buy at $277!

Also apparently a little elf dropped a pair of orange laces into the shoes before they were boxed up as well! A great surprise!

Oh yea. $299 is gone for sure. The last similar sale was the $325. I'd expect that, or maybe $350. Just never know. $399 for standard model 2nds is about my limit. At that point I'd rather just wait for some 1sts honestly on sale. I'd pay a bit more for rare shell 2nds though. Like I did with the natural strands. For $399 it'd need to be something I really wanted. $299 I was a bit more loose with purchasing and in the good deal phase. A phase I've tried to limit. Especially when I add up my planned and pre-ordered purchase already for the year...

When is the shell sale?  Can't see any great prices on the Shoebank, or is $399 it?

Anyway, very happy with my new MTO:

Bourbon Mora 2.0
Walnut McClain
Saddle Brown Vernon (these look more chili than brown)

I had ordered a few brown pairs (McClain, Weybridge) but returned both because I hated the color. So far, the AE Brown (mocha, dark brown) are not doing it for me. Unlike the walnut and bourbon, which I love.

You don't really have any dark shoes, so personally I would definitely go with oxblood > Chili.

However, since it was more of a cold weather boot, I figured I'd be wearing it on a fairly regular basis with wool socks. With dress socks on work days, I've got plenty of room. With wool socks on weekends, it's close to spot on.
Exactly what I should have done. The volume in the width fooled me into getting the 11 1/2😞

Thank you! They have finally started to to turn from matte to semi shiny. They look a little pointy to me as well but most of my boots are on Barrie last.

Those look great.  Why did AE discontinue this model again?  I am always confused when AE chooses to discontinue great models, or models that dont readily have a replacement. SWB, saddle, etc.

One of the great mysteries.....I really hope the release a cap toe on the B34 last..actually if they took this boot and made it on the B34 I would be a happy camper
